Lucky Star - Should I Bother?

If you like light comedy/slice-of-life shows, then you might want to watch a bit of it. In fact, if you like the first epsiode you'll probably like the rest, as it's fairly representative.

Persoanlly, I thought it was ok. Worth watching, but nothing special.

It was better than Azumanga Daioh, but it's still only worth watching if you like that kind of thing. I stopped watching at around epsiode 18 because I realised I had better anime to watch.

How about you watch it and create your own opinion of the show?

One reason would be that the DVDs aren't out yet, even in America.

Thats why I assumed he was talking about the fansubs, because how could anyone know what the show was lke if we all waitied till it was released on DVD?

Not really, it's kinda ******. Azumanga Daioh is much better.

as said before down to personal opinion
Naw, it's pretty much fact that Lucky Star is full of fail.

What Lucky Star deserves/needs to be.

Lucky Star is a pretty aquired taste. Its really funny if you like random jokes, no plot, or you recognize alot of anime references. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the DVDs.

I would says it's worth a watch.

I like it a lot. I just find the reactions of the characters after some of the jokes/parodies/cultural reference they made were hularious.

I'd say it's definately worth a try, but like other's have mentioned it's for certain people. (Although, I'd thought the more otaku you were, the higher the comedy value on it is.)

I expected to hate it but ended up really enjoying it by the end. I can see why some people wouldn't like it though, especially when nothing outside of the everyday happens. If it's slice of life with moments of genuine emotion and a (mostly) subtle sense of humour you're after, it's worth watching.

Sitting down with few expectations is more important in enjoying this show than most - you have to let yourself enjoy it if that makes any sense at all. Oh yeah, quite a few of the gags reference other series so if Haruhi isn't familiar to you for instance, quite a bit of the humour will be lost on you.

I loved it, but you really need to take it "as is". There are no deep underlying references to characters pasts, and there is no real action. It's just an anime that's showing the characters lives growing up through school with the obvious dysfunctional characters.

In many ways is more "adult" than Azumanga I've found as it deals with issues in a different way, but in many other ways Azumanga out does it in the sheer pointlessness of certain scenes.

Lucky Star references to loads of other animes and mangas and it uses a lot of Haruhi references (naturally) but on the whole it's a brilliant anime if you like that kinda thing. It's laid back and just fun really.

Not good if you want a plot or anything though.

I really liked it, it was just a fun, pointless little anime and just 20 minutes of fun once a week. Don't know if I'd be able to/want to sit down and watch the entire thing at once, but it was fun while it lasted.

Also it helps if you've seen a few other anime, there are many Haruhi references as well as references to culture and suchforth, not loads but it does help with understand the humour.

I am talking about the Fansubs and geez, all i wanted was a direct opinion. Oh, and i take offense at being called a guy.

Thanks everyone! I think i'll give it a go. I love Haruhi and it's anime references. Remember the episode where you can hear the tv in the background and it's all kinds of shows and of course, the DC episode. ^^

Lucky star is a good comedy. Although some people dont like how the comedy is portrayed. Its all random humor of minor events that happen in the characters lives.

I did think some of it was really funny, although when i first started watching it i was kind of wondering what it was all about.
