Good review. I agree with pretty much everything said.
The dub really is a sore spot for me. The way I look at it, it's like Funimation went and created a translated script of what needed to be said but didn't consider WHO had to say it. So much of what gives each of the nine a unique voice seems lost in the dub. It doesn't happen until next season but that episode where they had to find an English fill in for -san and -chan is a perfect example, taking something innocent and normal in polite Japanese conversation and replacing it with awkward stand ins like 'girlfriend' and 'goddess'.
