Wether the series is a parody or not doesn't matter.Jayme said:Reaper, what's your actual opinion on Haruhi then? I don't really consider Lucky Star or Haruhi to be moe (or moe for me) because of the fact they way too self aware and referential to be taken completely seriously.
They wear realistic modern school clothing not the stereotype. You could put them in sailor suits.Stuart-says-yes said:Isn't a school uniform, what changes a girl into a school girl , I mean they wouldn't be an afterschool band if they weren't wearing uniform. Plus I mean there are plenty of times in the series where they don't wear school clothing.
Terminal illness, amnesia, hiding their magic powers, their near debilitating social phobia, being a robot that's going to break down very soon, hiding their borderline incest relationship, being so imencely rich/powerful/ famous/ a god that normal people are afraid of you, etc. etc. Also what could they possibly face that they would need protecting from anyway? Steel guitar strings?

And yet these are some of the reasons why K-ON! is so incredibly moe. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=subjectiveK-on!s failure at being moe are due to the fact everyone dresses realisticaly... (they're fairly normal)
Rui said:I find some of the frogs from Keroro Gunsou moe but want to punch most Key characters in the face the moment they open their mouths. Moe is a personal thing. I can see why a number of people might find the mundane but earnest adventures of the K-On! girls to be full of moe potential, even though I doubt I will feel they same when I finally buy it from a bargain bin.

I doubt that it's a contract thing, as Viz didn't lock Vampire Knight away, and neither I think did Madman in R4. It's just Kaze.
Moe being known to most of the English fandom is due to it's use in Haruhi.ilmaestro said:Did this term (or concept) even exist seven years ago?Reaper gI said:Mikuru (moeblob)

The idea that they will be "fine anyway" makes no sense whatsoever, except for the incredibly backwards-thinking fact that you know that they are alright in the end.
That's very reverse-engineered though, not to mention how much it speaks to the extremely unsophisticated understanding of the concept that would result in any early terminology.Reaper gI said:Moe being known to most of the English fandom is due to its use in Haruhi.ilmaestro said:Did this term (or concept) even exist seven years ago?Reaper gI said:Mikuru (moeblob)

Generaly happy inocent character dealing with the death of imediate family/ close friend, essentialy Kanon.Stuart-says-yes said:Maxon said:/raises handilmaestro said:I'd also suggest you could find people who wish the characters in K-ON! would die horrible deaths
Your so cruel Maxon.
TV Tropes can be edited by anyone. Just saying.Shiroi Hane said:As far as my memory goes, "moeblob" was indeed first coined for Mikuru. TVTropes also backs this up.
