Least favourite Anime distrubutor?

R1 ADV is now called section23 (Sentai Filmworks is the part that releases anime) . I don't think there is a UK equivelant anymore.
There stopped being a UK equivalent when they closed the office three years ago. AEsir Holdings still retains the UK rights to at least some of the pre-Sojitz titles as they are still available on TAN. Not a single title licensed under Section 23/Sentai Filmworks has included UK rights; the last time they made anything available to us in the UK was when they added some Enoki titles like Gakuen Alice to TAN.

Would be a shame if MVM gave up on Anime, they have some really good releases in their catalogue, although presume they wouldn't let them dissappear (mind you where has Black Lagood gone?). They also always remember to add sign-subs.

Really annoys me when Manga Ent. do that, totally killed Karas part 1 for me (didn't really like part 2 tho). Last thing you wanna do is be putting the subs on and off when your watching the dub. In fact thats my only complaint with Manga at the moment and I actually don't know if its an issue with recent releases, hopefully not.

Oddly I like MVM in the UK, probaly because their packaging is better, and they have the strongest back catalogue (which they actualy keep in print), due to the Geneon licenses.

Dislike most of Manga's practices, **** packaging, no reissues (still want soemone to rescue end of eva), using bad/gimped masters.

Did hate Beez but AL fixed my main gripe, going OOP super fast.

In the US I want Viz to die, not finishing series, no reissues etc.

End on Evangelion's license ran out, some-one already asked Manga for a reprint, to which they replied with the above.
They could still re-licence it, something MVM seem quite capable of. It's also a VHS master for the dvd version. Getting the dvd version out legaly in English might be nice...

For this reason alone, I like to suppoer MVM where possible.

I am tired, SO TIRED, of seeing a trailer for an apparently awesome show, only to scurry excitedly onto Amazon or Play and find that it fell out of print and I can only get it if I sell some internal organs.

Oh, yeah. MVM's packaging and catalouge is really good, but the price is rediculous, which is much more important, IMO

Perhaps they've improved in recent years, but I tend to think of MVM covers as being single-sided (with perhaps a list of their other titles on the back) and washed out looking compared to the same covers in the US.

None of the UK ones seem "too" bad, although there are improvements that they could make across the board.

Given the amount of extra responsibility they have in the Western market these days and what they do with it, Funi has comfortably dropped down to the rank of my "least favorite".
