Not necessarily.

I have had 8 volumes of FMP! manga delivered in the same package before. Same when I bought all the Elfen Lied DVDs (yeah it sucks but that was back in my "not knowing good anime" days).

I can't ever recall getting multiple DVD's in a package, but have had it with books several times.

I can confirm that they are indeed very much like Play.com in that respect. I ordered Desert Punk over two weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped. All that nicely priced anime and none of it's ever in stock.
