Introduction

Derfel

Dandy Guy, in Space
Hello.

I just recently found this website, while looking for sources pertaining the anime industry and its current state.

I am a first year law student at Aberdeen uni, which is why I am quite interested in the legal and business background of anime. In addition, I am very much interested in its history.

Up until now, the only forum on which I actively participated was jref.com/forum. But it is not specific enough to feed every aspect my geekyness, so I thought this would be a good opportunity.

I'm particulary interested in most depressing, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic productions. Although, I am open to anything that points beyond the premise of the average shounen script and theme.

I do like Japanese music, yes, and I do in fact dislike J-Rock.
This may sound provocative to some, but I would not like this to turn into a dispute, its just an introduction, so, yeah, a mere fact.

Is there anything I have forgotten?

Derfel

Hello!

What kinds of Japanese music do you like? I'm not terrifically keen on J-rock either (there are a few exceptions but not many) but I lap up more traditional ballads/pop/enka etc :)

It seems like you're settling in rather well already, so all that's left is for me to join in as well to say welcome!

Thank you

Hey derfel. Welcome to the forums.

Haha, yeah, I do like anything with the 'mankind's fate' sort of theme. Sci-fi seems to deliver it well :D

Ahaha, yeah, enka to some extent, I don't really like male vibrato (ok, Ronnie James Dio is an exception to that), but the female singers are pretty good I think. I also like pretty much every ballad that is not about love (I know thats quite restricting). And finally, Japanese metal, death and grind. Blood Stain Child, Serpent, Morbid Axe, FID, Anthem, Sex Machineguns, yeah. Oh yeah, another thing I'll add is shamisen in general. :D

Hello and Welcome =)

Woot? Claymore. Thats actually one of my favourites as well, both the manga and the anime (however disappointing the latter turned out to be).
Who's your favourite character?

Quite a few GITS fans too I see, hmm, a good omen.

Howdy hi hi and welcome to the forums! Always good to see more Scots appearing on the forums.

Not sure what else to recommend actually, what else have you seen? Maybe able to add to it then.

While I study in Aberdeen, I'm not actually Scottish. I'm half Hungarian and half Armenian.

Theseare the titles I have dealt with. Recommend anything depressing and/or apocalyptic, especially if it builds upon Judeo-Christian mythology. :D
