Importing from Amazon USA, The price on packaging?

Does the price marked on the packaging sent from Amazon USA included the Postage & Packing separate or adds it to the total cost of the item ordered?

It's in an attached envelope marked something like "documents enclosed" if it isn't on the main packaging.

Either way customs forms must have postage costs on it, you are charged import VAT on the postage cost.

I've ordered my anime through amazon importers for years, the two companies I would recommend are Camian_USA and supermart_usa. Both of these companies only charge for the postage and send via "gift" option so you avoid paying any VAT charges.

Indeed. The latter of these (and perhaps also the former) charge very competitive prices — sufficiently competitive to outdo specialist R1 anime stockists on many occasions.

'Gift' does not avoid all charges, it just ups the limit to around £40.

And in some cases this has no effect on the whims of C&E at all. I was stung for almost half the cost again of Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVAs, which were marked as 'gift' and cost just £25.00

UP1's prices depend on the exchange rate when they bought the DVDs, so with the rate improving their prices won't be best. Its the downside to how they work, you don't have to worry about customs or long shipping but the prices are not current.

DVD Pacific is in America though, so back to the import duty problem which is avoided with United Publications.

I used them only once and never again, since they were hacked, my credit card details were stolen and I suddenly had people in Russia or China making large purchases in my name. Admittedly they did email me about it, but it started off about how my password had been changed for security reasons and I didn't read all the way down to find out why since I was about to go on holiday.

yeah,i,ve always used United Publications, and due to not having any credit card,it makes life alot easier for me,they might not be the cheapest but they are a fast and friendly buisness.

Caiman have been gone for months :( I used to use them all the time, they were the cheapest nearly always.

Yup. Caiman managed the great feat of sourcing Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 for me in a complete box when no-one else could. They were great. I'm sorry to see them go.

Supermart take a fair bit of stick for slow delivery times and inadequate packaging, but to be honest, I've never had any complaints with them.

Movie-mars are a little pricier, but just as good service wise. I believe they dispatch from within the UK mainland too, thus bypassing nasty import fees.

And of course, I've mentioned import fees, so I'm bound by my code of HdE honour to mention how apalling Royal Mail's handling charge is.

HdE's overview matches my experiences with the sellers named. Supermart, despite their slow delivery, have often been the only sellers offering a desired product below the Customs limit.

(I should note that one sometimes has to use R1 Marketplace sellers through their own websites. I once shopped with a seller by the name of "Redford Films", who existed on Amazon but only sold the Gundam DVD I wanted on their own site. All other places charged over £18.)

You know, something that never ceases to amaze me about online retail sites like Amazon and Ebay is the idiocy of some of the folks leaving feedback, and how that affects the reputation of the sellers active there.

I can't help butt think that this affects some sellers like Supermart adversely.

I've literally seen feedback comments like 'Delivery time wuz rubbish, but then this is a delivery from the USA, and it all arrived in good nick. But the movie wuz rubbish, so only 1 star. Booyah!'

And don't even get me started on the customer reviews...
