Immortel aka God Diva (2004)

I just came across a trailer for this, and wondered how I never heard about a film from 2004 that looks like such a cult hit?

But then i never heard about Cypher or Dark City either till way after they were made. ><

Has anyone seen it? Is it any good, or is it just a load of pretentiousness trying to be something it's not, because it looks damn pretty! Looks like an excuse for an over the top 'meaningful' sex scene too, from what I saw in the trailer.

I've never heard of this before either, but it does look very interesting, the trailer has the the same CG shine I liked about Casshern. The fact it's an English language movie, looks quite high budget but it totally unknown seems very odd.

I've never heard of that film either, looks pretty interesting, but as Paul say, it's strange that such a high budget film should be so unknown, unless we are just completely out of the loop, lol

I saw this on a Play.com letter thing that came through my door and thought it looked quite interesting but never really looked into it, the trailer looks cool but it reminds me of Ergo Proxy alot.

I just watched it, and read a little on the internet.

The main reasons people criticise this film are for the lack of depth of the plot. However, it is a visially stunning, cyberpunk, dystopian masterpiece.

If you're not uncomfortable watching a film where the overriding theme involves rape (hmm, I wonder why this was never released in America...), then I highly recommend you check this out.

People have compared this to The Fifth Element, well if The Fifth Element went goth, lost a huge slice of its sense of humour, and added dark elements, aliens, evil genetic corporations, 60%+ CG chracters and substitute the perfect being for 'Jill' I can see what they mean.

It is loosely based around the trilogy of graphic novels 'The Nikopol Trilogy' by Enki Bilal, which I am going to go and buy now, since they are supposed to be just as pretty and explain some of the mysteriousness of the film.

I wonder what the Japanese audience made of it? Seems strange it was shown over there and not so much in the West.

Some screenshots from the film (just chracters and a car shot, no spoilers):
