I just can't see how capital punishment is actually punishment when the criminal doesn't have to answer for their crimes. It's like they're getting away with it. Life imprisonment forces them to deal with the consequences of what they did. I also don't like the idea of deciding someone should die, since it's purely a reactionary/emotionally charged decision that doesn't really make much sense logically.ilmaestro said:Unfortunately, in this case, it was merely exasperation.
I also agree with your comments on the previous page that bringing back the death penalty would be a better alternative to life imprisonment for certain crimes.
However, I would like to emphasise that I only believe in life imprisonment for those that aren't willing to repent or reform. Getting criminals to become better citizens benefits everyone in the long run. If you watch part 2 of Louis Theroux's documentary on the biggest jail in Miami, you see the prisoners going through military training to give them a reason to live and make them learn the values of being a productive member of society. This training seems to change their attitudes greatly.
