How to deal with a Royal pain?

Simple, eh?

I worry about you sometimes :)

Was that meant in a friendly-joking sort of way or should I start to rage at you?

Someone give that man a medal NOW or perhaps a knighthoo

d00de, you don't like Aion. We get that. That's a bit over the top though, aint it? If you can't contribute to the topic, then just don't bother man.

It's not that over the top
it's not like I constantly call him a tard
I try and make people not talk to him like my cyber bully does

And too far would have been
I HOPE HE TAKES A **** ON IT NEXT TIME!!!!!!!
AND BURNS DOWN YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!
I mean that's what I wanted to say

I'll be honest in that i've not had to really deal with that problem with the post, the posties in the village here are all friendly and do their job properly, and since its a village and everyone knows everyone, any problems mentioned would get around fast, so it never happens.

I would probably put forward a formal complaint, much like what McIcy did(and Rui as well, if it is looked into properly by the Royal Mail) and push to get it dealt with.

Unellmay: Its fine if you don't like someone on the forum, but its not when you say something like that for everyone to see. I'd recommend keeping your thoughts to yourself and keep on-topic instead of making posts which could turn into a personal attack of some sort.

Urgh, postmen. They can be really annoying at times.
They always seem to go on strike when I'm expecting something to arrive.

I agree with sending in a formal complaint. Tachi's idea is really interesting tough, that might work out.

I ordered a set of plush-keychains once, and they arrived when no-one was in the house. So my postman threw the parcel in the green dustbin. o_O

^ I had that once, when I lived elsewhere. Did he cover his tracks with a parcel card saying "parcel left in green container" as well? Mine did.

The parcel card said it had been left in the blue recycling container. When I looked it wasn't there. Then my nan went to take the rubbish out, came back in saying she found a parcel in the green bin.

At least he was more honest than mine then (if inaccurate). I imagine he'd still be in trouble if you were to complain about that like, since he has admitted in writing to putting your parcel in a bin!

I'd much rather my postman leave things in the recycling bins and let me know than make me trek to the local post office and queue for 30 minutes to get a package.

Not when it stinks so badly of waste that you're close to throwing up when trying to open it, then you have to wash your hands a bazillion times after you do open it. DX

Yeah, in both mine and Osaka's case they were left in the regular rubbish bin. Not to mention the fact that the bin could be emptied while the parcel was in it.

Sorry for not posting again before now. It seems I was told a lie - the Royal Mail van person actually handed the parcels over, one by one. That left me with no-one to blame with 100% accuracy.

Today Planetes 1-2 box sets, Patlabor and Midori Days all arrived. Planetes by hand, Patlabor by van.

I'd been expecting the worst beforehand after my recent Gundam Wing fun, and I wasn't let down. The Planetes sets were sent in bigger than usual cardboard things - y'know, what Play.com always use. Straight away I noticed a corner of the cardboard was bashed in. This is what I discovered inside: http://img406.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=planetes1.jpg

I then moved onto my Midori Days single DVD sized case. That didn't seem damaged; the jiffy bag appeared to be fun and I heard no rattling. But, once I removed the seal, part of he plastic fell off; the plastic near the bottom part that locks the case. Brilliant.

Then, finally, I was told the final parcel arrived by van. This was in a box that was open, with only tape holding it together. I was obviously expetcting bad things but, thankfully, Play wrapped it in large as hell bubble wrap to save it from the same fate as Planetes. No damaged to my very rare Patlabor set, at least...but I don't like he damn films.

I have no idea what to do. My postman is nice, always happy to talk and always knocks the door instead of pushing through my letter box. And it's both when the van and he brings parcels that I received damaged goods. It could be both but it's more than likely damage done at the sorting office.

The obvious thing to do is contact Play.com + USA and hope they have better CS than I've heard, but that won't solve the problem. What'll I do if they send replacements and the thing happens again?

The same fate that happened to your Planetes set happened to my Dirty Harry boxset. Play.com's packaging does nothing to protect what's inside. Giving my experience of going to the sorting office if anything the most damage is likely done there.

The problem I've found with sending back to play.com before... well here's an example. I bought the Pierce Brosnan Bond boxset in a tin. Thankfully the tin arrived fine but one of the disks was loose and got completely scratched up. If this was a bonus disk I wouldn't have cared so much but it was Goldeneye (my favoutire Bond film) so I was understandably annoyed.

I contacted play.com and asked them to exchange the disk that was damaged but they told me I had to send the entire boxset back to them at my expense. It was a heavy tin set and would have cost me about a tenner to post back to them so I kicked off. Eventually they agreed to reimburse my postage costs to send the thing back for the sake of exchanging one disk and a replacement was sent. What a mess.

Just buy the same thing from Amazon (it doesn't matter how much it costs because you're going to get it back anyway) and then send the damaged set back to them for a refund. They don't give a toss and you print your free postage out. I know someone who used this trick to replace a broken, out-of-warranty PS3.

As much as I like Play.com, their returns service is (for lack of a better word) ****.

Now i didn't have a problem with their return service, they even said straight off the bat that they would refund postage (unlike TBD which i had to poke them for)

I have had various problems over the years. From torn padded envelopes to padded envelopes that are not stuck down but have been stapled shut. I have received some boxes with holes in them as well.

The parcel that arrived today came when everyone was out so the postie left it with a neighbor. When she had to go out she left it with another neighbor who brought it round.

In the past I have complained twice about the postal service. Both times I was sent a set of free first class stamps.

The worst case of parcel damage though was the fault of the sender. An amazon market trader sent me a volume 1 & artbox dvd in the kind of packaging that amazon uses. Needless to say the artbox got squashed - it was more a diamond shape than box shape.

The market trader gave me a full refund so it was not all bad but I would have preferred an undamaged artbox.

That.....is genius! A bit bad, but genius all the same.
