That's a scary thought :? I'm guessing if this goes ahead unedited we'll see a CGI Ryuk like the Jap version...Nice picture though, and as long as he doesn't sing would be an inspired casting choice :p
 
I hope they re-interpret the visual aspects to Ryuk's character for the Death Note live-action movie. CGI probably wouldn't work and success in dressing up an actor to resemble him would be next to impossible.

I dunno, CG Ryuk didn't look half bad for Japan's movies, Considering the budgets for their flicks are next to nothing.

Yarp, Japans Ryuk does totaly look bad ass like. I have only seen screen shots so I could possibly have a different opinion when I see a clip/trailor. Still really looking forward to see how it turns out tho.

they just did a screened both back to back at the BFI Southbank.... didn't see the second movie yet =( I love the bad english pronunciation the japanese use in anime and movies =)
I found particularly hard to understand them IRL though..
 
Does anyone know if this new movie will have all of the death note story and follwo the manga, OR be different like the current live action movies?

Being a Hollywood adaptation you can almost count on it being vastly different from the original work. Big screen movies quite often sacrifice a lot of plot elements for the sake of accessibility. Some things simply do not translate well to a movie, which necessarily has a limit as to how long it can be. Add to that this will be an American version created from a Japanese source and it is very hard to see how it could possibly remain the same.

That will really suck! I hope they don't mess it up!! I wonder what type of budget they'll be looking at?
