I was tempted to make a joke about the Jack Bauer Power Hour, but when last did anyone even mention 24? I digress.

If we get a conclusive result fast enough, we could potentially look at starting on Friday night (20th), although if folk want time to consider or if it ends in a draw, we can keep the poll open for longer. There's no reason we can't do the other options or other things we think of later at another time, but for now, maybe if everyone votes for their most preferred 2 options and we can see how that looks.

I've left out one-shot films and short form series for now on the assumption we could just make casual threads for them (as Geriatric hedgehog suggested), but if anyone fancies assembling a longer season of tangenitally related films, that could also be made into a single thread.

After what I said in the Planning thread I don't have Fujiko Mine movies, but do also have Haibane Renmei and Patlabor OVAs sitting on my shelf unwatched from whenever I bought them! The Patlabor Movies should be here soon, so I voted for those 2. If Fujiko Mine gets the vote I'm sure I can find the movies somewhere ⛵

Looks like we've got a clear leader with Haibane Renmei, so I'll leave it until this evening just in case, but if there are no more votes I'll get the thread set up tonight. I didn't actually cast a vote myself, but if I did, it would make a tie, so I'll hold off for now.

If it helps for anyone, Fujiko Mine is on HIDIVE, although it’s not terribly obvious - it’s under Lupin III: Part 1 as season 7, because of course it is…
Thanks for clarifying, that sounds relatively bonkers - I don't have hidive but still wouldn't have found it from the sounds of it heh.

Is Haibane Renmei on hidive as well? I may just sign up for that anyway (as I really want to watch season 2 of Oshi no Ko after Netflix teased us with season 1).

Have to say I'm a bit surprised by the popularity of Haibane, despite nominating it I didn't even vote for it. It really seemed from the other thread like Fujiko was the popular choice yet at the time of writing I am the only one who has voted for that. Thanks for setting this up Prof, hope all four of you who voted for Haibane join in with the simulwatch!

Ah, I thought Haibane Renmei was on CR, but it seems to have disappeared - is that going to be a problem for anyone?
Damn, you’re right. The only place it seems to be available for streaming now is bloody Apple TV and I think they only have about three subscribers worldwide.

That’s not a problem for me since I have the discs (and a uh, digital backup of the discs I can travel with over Christmas on my laptop) but if it presents a barrier to others watching we could move on to something else. But I might as well say now that the same issue may (i.e. will) present itself with the Patlabor OVAs. You’re fine if you have discs but there is currently nowhere to stream it that I’m aware of.

Gah, you’re right enough - Patlabor was on HIDIVE (albeit region locked) and also… ITVX, for some reason, but appears to be gone from both.

I’ll hold off putting up a thread for another day in case this is a problem for anyone and they’d like to change their vote. We’ll likely only have a few folk following along, so I’d like to get something that’s available for as many people as possible.

I have the discs for Haibane Renmei at home but won't be back for over a week. Wasn't prescient enough to uh, plan digital back-ups for that one heh. I had started watching a few episodes a little while ago so will still aim to join in the simulwatch for that.

Shame about Patlabor not being on streaming - again I have the US mega edition or whatever at home, so could join in later for that.
