Hi! I'm new!

Don't really know how to begin.

I've been looking for a UK-based anime forum community for a while and this one seems to fit the bill.

Nice to meet you all.

Hello and welcome!

What kind of series do you like/dislike? We've had quite a few new members lately who have settled in very quickly, so I hope you'll join them :)

Hey, thanks for posting in here. Love your avatar.

First off, I can deal with dubs. I know there's this universal hatred among fans for dubbed anime, and you should watch things the way the original creator intended, but some shows have worked really well in English. -Shields himself from hefty objects like the Akira manga volumes.-

Then again, certain shows are awful in English. Can't watch an episode of Dragon Ball Z in English to save my life. Squeaky, high pitched characters who all sound the same unite and high five!

I'm a big fan of a lot of shows. I really just watch whatever I can whenever I can nowadays. I'm slowly shuffling my way through a couple of series currently like Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist (original) as well. Always open to a new series suggestion though. Keep meaning to check out Valkyria Chronicles as the game was awesome.

I'll be honest - I usually watch stuff as it gets released over here in the UK. I haven't even sat through every episode of loads of series properly because I'm waiting for the UK release. We used to get shafted so bad with anime over here that it just feels right to support the industry, especially at the prices some shows are sitting there for (Manga's multi-episode releases are excellent value)

If I had to throw out a few series I disliked... wow. I dunno, never really been massively into Lucky Star although again that's one I've never properly watched. I don't really care for Bleach either, despite listing it as one I'm currently watching - with Bleach I find I'm just watching/collecting it because it's there, like how you'd collect football stickers at primary school even if you didn't have any particular interest in football? Dunno.

Hope this helps, although I kinda get the feeling it won't.

Haha, that's fine, it's a good start.

We have quite a few dub fans here (even a few who follow dub voice actors/actresses) so don't worry about mentioning that. I personally always watch in the original language, no matter what it is, but I think most of us rationally understand that dubs have a place in the industry. Hopefully a few of the dub watchers will pop in to say hello soon so it doesn't look as though I'm just making things up to lure you in...

I don't watch digisubs at all so I'm always charmingly [in my mind] out of date compared to a lot of online fans. A few folks here exclusively wait for UK releases so you shouldn't find too many problems slotting in there. Arbalest has started running themed fortnights - as you've probably seen - to discuss recent UK releases. As cheaper and faster releases seem to be the latest trend it's not a bad time to be a UK collector, at last.

Not too keen on Bleach myself. My husband loves it and keeps filling our house with the manga but I gave up after 20 volumes of it and will be dropping the DVDs after volume 3:2, probably. Having said that, the second movie looks mildly tempting.

Bleach is very slow to start mind- when it really kicks in though it's just badass. Srsly.

Howdy hi hi and welcome to the forums.

Agree with the whole dub thing, i mean some are very good, whereas some just make you cringe. I mean i can easily watch some fine, Bebop, FMP, Black Lagoon, but some i would never consider, Berserk being a great example there.

Personally i never found the hype around FMA's original series, and when i heard about some of the things that happen in the series compared to its manga counterpart, i wondered why they did such a thing(bar the fact that the manga wasn't that far, of course), so i could never find myself getting into it now, thankfully the new series is following the manga, so i'm watching that.
Bleach is extremely generic though, its not exactly amazing either. I do think the manga is far superior too, same with Naruto, both anime series feel extremely lacking.

Hello and Welcome =)

I've pretty much dropped Bleach and Naruto anime because I was bored of fillers..
As Rui said, there are themed weeks running now so you can see what's coming out and you can buy them on their releases, and talk about them with everyone else, if you prefer to see things that way.

Valkyria Chronicles is a good show though, and I would say it's worth watching.

Welcome to here.

I am too impatient to wait for UK releases, buying instead the US ones. As I don't watch fans subs and having just started to watch legal streams I am somewhat in the middle for series watched around here.

Hello there and welcome to the forums :) .Pretty new myself but there are some good people here,so don't be afraid to ask for advice on which shows to check out.I'm currently watching Chrome Shelled Regios which isn't half bad.

Hey and welcome here.

I've recently start the bleach manga all over again. It's a great manga, the series is good as well, even the fillers on bleach are not half as stupid as the fillers in naruto, for instance.

I agree with your view on the industry and manga releases are getting really good recently.

About dubs, well all anime is dubbed ;) I just watch a couple episodes in each and find which I prefer. as of late, I've been watching more english dubs, as I tend to do other stuff while watching. It's a bad habit though.

well Ryo, lupus and I know about dubs, ones to stear clear off to ones that are exceptional. yours truly knows varies roles of many cast. feel free to drop either one of us a line if you need to know anything
