hey dudeO and dudets

Indeed Stephen Merchant should be an idol.

To be an idol you must be looked upto.... and not many people are as lanky as Merchant so in a way he's already there!

He should get more credit, gervais is great but he claims things alot.

Ricky's humour is more obviously awkward, whereas Steve is a bit more depreciating. I sometimes think he should get more credit, but everything seems very mixed up anyway. The Office and Extras are mainly Ricky's PoV in life. Ricky's obviously very intelligent, but it clashes with his humour a lot so I think some people think Smerch is the one who does all the work. Hard to say... We wouldn't ever had anything from them without each other, so I guess that's the strongest thing you can say towards both.

Unless you meant something else by "claims a lot" ? In which case... I think some of that is just human condition, too. If you're talking to someone or a child, it's weirdly more natural to say something to think is plausible than admitting you don't know. (Karl was the child in that scenario).

Really? I thought he was the monkey

lol he may well be the monkey.

Chimpanzee that.... monkey news

I meant it in the sense that gervais obviously works hard (i read his blog on his website) but smerch never really gets alot of publicity, They both co-wrote the office and extras, but merchant wasn't in the public eye at all in the office and appeared in extras but not really in a big role.

He probably gained more fame from doing that tooth fairy film with the rock.

Did you see Talking Funny, tach? It's this pretty excellent deconstruction of comedy by Ricky Gervais, Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock that aired a bit back. It's really fascinating and funny if you're into that stuff. (I personally found Ricky a bit out of place; he's not a proper standup at all. Then I noticed he produced).

No i missed it unfortunately, i'm usually pretty good at following the work of gervais but saying that i'm yet to pick up "science" :/

If its online anywhere i'll give it a watch.
