Right,
Kinda half new to this thing so be patient. Been a sort of part time fan of anime for quite a bit now but have exhasted my supply of what i can easily get hold of... am looking for some hard core fans to give me a bit of advice for what to watch next!! Here's the score so far...
- I know its pretty mainstream but am a real fan of the more technical film, Akira, Neon Genesis and (of course) Ghost in the shell, seen pretty much all these have to offer in terms of sequels etc.
- Like the older stuff like Vampire hunter D and Wings of Honnamaise...
- Not a massive fan of the more childish stuff like New Dominion etc...

Anybody recon they can predict the sort of stuff that i'll like?!

Much love and Gratitude.

As far as I can tell, you have a somewhat similar taste to my own.

Try the oldies:

Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star

or:

Ninja scroll, Blood or Perfect Blue? o.o

Oh, and welcome to the forums.

EDIT: The answers in the poll are ambiguous to the question. GITS got better with time, but you have to take into account the original had nothing to do with GITS:SAC etc

Get It, I loved the series it was amazing, the animation quality, the stories the sound track, really an amazingly constructed series and worth adding to and and all anime collections.

DO NOT WATCH THE DUB - The english voices of the tanks really ruin it.

Yep, the original is untouchable.

Tachikoma voice dub = MASSIVE FAILURE.

Agree With Hyaku Here, the classics are always better, But if you want my opinion on Gits:

GITS - Fantastic, one of my all time favourite anime movies
Innocence GITS 2 - Very Confusing
GITS:SAC 1st Gig - Fantastic series with some very good stories
GITS:SAC 2nd Gig - On Par with First Gig
GITS:SAC:SSS - Not seen yet

This is pritty much my opinion of them all.

the only thing of that genre that ive watched is outlaw star and GITS. so i cnt really help you, not a hard core fan of that genre, apart from them 2 anime that i totally luv. really reccomend outlaw star though, one of the best anime ive seen.

Aww, I absolutely love the dub voice of the Tachikoma, it's so unpredictable and ... different. In Japanese, they don't really sound that distinctive at all.

Tachikoma's full stop = MASSIVE FAILURE.

Sorry, the series (1) is great in nearly every respect, but the Tachikoma's are the one absolutely horrible bit for me. No matter what the dub was I don't think I could ever like them.

The first movie is rather boring, and I have no intention of watching the second one. I may watch the T.V series since I've heard good things about it.

Anyway, you may want to pick up Escaflowne, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, as they are all good anime to start off with.

Nice one guys.

cheers for the quick response. keep the suggestions coming!

SOLA. 8)
No. Just no. :p

IMO...

In order of "goodness"
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: 2nd Gig
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

My only thing against Innocence, is that you have to watch it two or three times for it to begin to make sence.

Btw in your poll do you mean, Is Innocence better than the original? Is Stand alone complex better than the film, or Is season two better than season one?

As for series i recommend, try;
Hellsing, Chrono Chrusade, Getbackers, Blood+

i liked GITS but it confused me slightly because of its deepness, but it was still awesome. Havent seen GITS2. Seen eps 1-4 of GITS: SAC and really loved them (even though they really didn't tie to the 1st movie!)
