Good Animes with Dubs

Cyber City Oedo 808 - compared to the subtitled version, the English dub is a riot :D

Loved the dub for that. I also liked Angel Cop but I'm not sure you could call that a good dub  Its just hilarious.

Testimony given to me from a reliable forum member indicated that the dub for this film was, in the most part, something to avoid. I myself must nonetheless remain non-judgemental.

Kino's Journey is something I shall recommend. Regarding dubs, I'm usually deterred by the pitch of the female characters' voices. In this instance however, a subdued and far from shrill performance was provided.

I disagree because I watched the dub & thought it was really good & I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Full Metal Panic, Ouran High School Host Club and Gurren Lagann. None are as good as the subs (IMO) but they are very good quality dubs, it's just my opinion that I prefer the subs. But if you watch dubs exclusively, then by all means go for them, they're pretty wellcast =)

edit: Appleseed has a great dub too, the sequel, not so much (different cast =()

Also Akira. The Johnny Yong Bosch version (2001)

Asking for good dubs is a bit too vague because it's clear this thread could go on for a long time and you're going to be overwhelmed. You'd be better off asking about specific anime and having us tell you if it's good or bad.

Just thought I'd give this a nudge, as I just saw the first disc of Romeo X Juliet. Understand that I eschew dubs on general principle, almost always opting for the original language. So it almost pains me to say that this has an awesome dub. So good that I actually prefer it to the Japanese, especially as a couple of main characters actually sound better in English. Maybe it's the Shakespeare thing, but I think that English is more appropriate for the story.

Also, on the strength of the first quarter, it's shaping up to be a damned fine anime series.

I forgot about Angel Cop as it is sooo long since I have seen it (I own it on video but did not get around to upgrading to dvd).

El-Hazard - The Magnificent World plus Giant Robo are also worth checking out.

Subbed yep, but Raw? :p I find watching it without fully knowing what's being said spoils it

True that, though i think i have an alright grasp of Japanese, i sometimes watch Bleach raw online before its subbed and i can normally understand most of it.

Yeah, but I wouldn't go waltzing into a raw episode of GitS or something. Also, dubs can be good. This isn't the '90s anymore.

I just speak from experiencing many bad dubs.

Deathnote
Bleach (ugh)
Naruto
Ninja scrolls
Dragon ball ( and all the other ones)
etc.ect...

EDIT: Theres only 1 dub i like and that is Cromartie high.

Death Note is actually one of the better dubs, but the rest you have mentioned range from the bad to the average.

The Japanese track isn't automatically better because it's Japanese, there are good and bad japanese dubs in the same way that there are good and bad english dubs. Just watch the one you prefer and don't make claims that the people who prefer watching the other way may see as you telling them how to watch their anime.

Let's not go into the sub/dub discussion anymore please.
watch it in whatever you like, as for me, I watch it in wathever is more comfortable.

You could understand most shounen shows without any sound at all.

You have bad experiences with dubs because those shows are all bad. They don't even try with those shows because they know they'll sell like hotcakes because people lack taste.
