13 episodes of Haruhi Chan, and 6 or 7 episodes of Nyoron
Ok.. have they said how they're gonna release the other halfs? Probably with Disappearance.

They should have included all 25 eps of Haruhi-Chan with S2, and all 13 eps of Nyoron with Dissapearance. Would have made much more sense. >_<
That would mean needing to author thier own disks. They're coming out as two singles half of each series in the USA and Australia.
So are they actually releasing the second lot of them with Disappearance?

Woah, are you running Windows 98?

Scary huh?

My every day PC is a Vista laptop, but for my writing, I like the computer and the software that I'm used to. Which is the ancient desktop that keeps on going like the Duracell bunny. It's also been 6 or 7 years since I last had reason to rip audio from a DVD, and back then I used the desktop. It saved me a few hours over trying to figure out how to do it with Vista.

EDIT: Actually, I don't think I can do it with the laptop, at least not the waveform analysis. When I got the desktop, they actually used to give useful stuff away with PCs, and later on I upgraded the soundcard to a Soundblaster I got even more useful software with that.

Just rip it with DVD Decrypter, then open up the audio stream w/ audacity.

Noted for future reference

Alot of us still buy anime DVDS here, where most of my other filmage is bought on blu ray now a days for sometimes half the price of buying a anime series on DVD!

The fact is for £30 I should be getting at LEAST stereo sound!!!
Sorry Manga, instead of supporting this release i'll be downloading the BD fansubs for this one.

I don't think it's appropriate to declare you are going to watch it for free if the release isn't up to standard - especially as the Japanese blu-rays contained English subs, so there's nothing remotely "fan"like about those rips online.

By all means boycott it, or buy the Japanese release if you really want it, but not paying and then downloading it instead isn't productive or fair.

Or buy the USA disks from somewhere you know recalled the mono ones sucesfuly.
There's no justification for piracy if there's a reasonable priced alternative (the USA) without the fault.

I understand your point of view, but put it in context with what the company are offering here, out of date audio repackaged as a contemporary anime release. Is that fair? Should we pay full whack for a series that is essentially limited due to incompetence?

I think the consumer has the right to choose, and I was all for buying this release until I read this article. Its not fair for the company, but I'll either wait for a 'proper' release or boycott through subs.

The Japanese Blu-rays have the correct stereo and English subs, expensive but you can import.

Bandai have issued corrected DVDs in the States, as mentioned if you can ensure that the retailer has the correct discs in stock, you can import those.

Or third option, you can wait. Eventually Bandai will re-release the set in Anime Legends form, and that will contain the correct audio for certain.

Fourth option. Wait and see what Manga does.

Fifth option, wait and see what Madman does. They're a bigger presence in Australia than Manga is in the UK. And if they are made aware of the problem, they may issue new Region 4 discs down under with the correct audio.

Fansubs won't help anyone.

Hmm, i'll take them into consideration, I could have jumped the gun a bit and not thought my rambling through...

Apologies for the outbust of boycottism.

I understand being annoyed, especially if you were looking forward to it (in my case I have the R1s anyway). It's just boycotting is only meaningful if you actually boycott it, rather than save money and get a significantly superior version of it illegally even when that version can be obtained relatively easily (with a large outlay of cash) >_>;
