General Cartoons Thread

Klaus - Delightful, watched with my mum over Xmas and we both adored it, slightly reminiscent of The Emperor's New Groove, but where that used a physical transformation to aid the MC's change in perspective, this goes with the "shipped out to the middle of nowhere" route :)

OK K.O. Let's Be Heroes Season 1 Episodes 32-49 - I really do love this show and am gonna finish it this year, K.O. is so sweet and I love the rest of the supporting cast too :)

I've started watching Totally Spies.
3 high school girls are recruited by WHOOP for various missions while navigating school.
The voice actors are so good, I don't understand why they weren't regulars for English anime dubs. They're miles better.

Great fun.

MASK is back (in toy form)! This stimulated my nostalgia gland. I had the original versions of the bike and plane from this video until I had to massively downsize the remains of my childhood a couple of years ago. The only one I kept was Piranha (bike with a sidecar that turns into a submarine).

Hopefully this is a sign that the on-again-off-again MASK movie might be inching towards production after what feels like decades in development hell. Dinoriders next plz.

Now this is interesting. My understanding was that all footage had to be destroyed for a movie to be used for a tax write-off. I recall the director of Batgirl saying that, by the time they heard about the movie's cancellation, all materials relating to it had been wiped from their drives without anyone warning them. I guess the above article means that the footage just gets locked away somewhere, though whether that's by the studio or a third-party (a law firm, maybe?), I couldn't guess.

That article was also the first time I heard that the following movie exists, although it's another one that's needed rescuing from Warner Bros' neglectful clutches. Seriously, what is going on at that company?

One series that I have on dvd is Galaxy High School, it's fun in a retro way.

I've seen some of that, and thought it was ok but not the best, wouldn't be completely averse to revisiting it tbf :)

I finally finished the movie length finale of the 2017 Ducktales reboot, and I highly recommend the series, it's got great animation and the characters are a delight, I much prefer it to what admittedly little I've seen of the original Ducktales :)

Also rewatched Spirit Riding Free Season 3 with my mum, and the first half or so of Season 4, when she came to visit me a couple of weeks ago, and it's honestly a great show I have no idea where all the hate it gets comes from, though I get that it's a bit different in tone and animation style to the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron movie that preceded it. Tbh, while I'm sure some people just don't like the show and there's no accounting for taste and so on, I suspect some of the pushback comes from sexist dislike of having a female lead and more of an emphasis on female characters (not that the men are treated badly or written to be trash I just mean it's more balanced in that regard). And just to say I'd have no problem with it if they made another spinoff with a male (or non-binary, for that matter) mc, I just think the sheer degree of negative reception for what is a funny, entertaining and heartwarming adventure series with some lovely music and very good animation for a "TV" (streaming but YGWIM) series (particularly on the human and animal acting, the horses and other animals are v expressive, even if you're not a fan of CGI credit where credit is due), smacks somewhat of "no girls allowed/he-man woman haters club". Also Snips and Senor Carrots are a hoot, and I love Aunt Cora and Clancy! It's so fun watching this w my mum cuz she loves it too, reminds me of when I played Stardew Valley for a while and it was rly nice talking w her about it cuz she loves gardening/plants/foraging and is v knowledgeable about it :)

Also rewatched The Emperor's New Groove again w a lovely FWB of mine, such a fun, funny movie! "Why do we even have that lever!?" XD

Picked Kim Possible back up and have now finished Season 1, I liked it but am really excited that the show, from what I hear, vastly improves starting w Season 2 (more involved/serialised plotting/etc.), as I prob wouldn't have been dying to watch another 3 seasons if it was just more of the same :)

Yay Kim Possible! It has been so long since I watched it I can't remember specifically about Season 1 and Season 2, aside from Season 2 is much longer with 30 compared to 21 episodes. The three-parter that ends Season 3, also edited together as a movie, is very good, and was originally intended to be the finale of the series but then it got another season. Maybe because of that, Season 4 I think is the most imaginative with its stories.

I hate hate hate that half of this show is not on home video. Disney released two DVDs that contained a few episodes, and the movie version of So The Drama (the S3 three-part finale), and later the first two seasons were released in sets that were only avaiable as part of that Disney Movie Club thing, though I managed to get them via ebay. These were all US releases. I believe there were German PAL sets of those first two seasons as well and probably the collection discs, but I'm not aware of any release of Seasons 3 and 4 anywhere.

I didn't get to see Season 4 originally, but there was a time, years ago now, when Disney had the show officially on youtube and I watched it that way.

I wish the rest was available on DVD or ideally all on blu-ray.

Furries were something that I never had any interest in but if you want to talk about old fantasy movies like Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves or The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad or The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad let's talk......!

So this just dropped. Its from the creator of The Owl House and while I've yet to see it ive noticed that A: its supposedly got Vivziepop levels of cursing (i.e too much) and B: its a big FU to Disney over how The Owl House was treated

Well this is a suprise if it's true. Especially considering no one thought a second Simpsons movie would ever happen at all

I've got the first 12 seasons of the Simpsons and often rewatch episodes.
Only rarely watch the newer ones. There's less humour. I'll see any new film when it's on channel 4.

I'm a Family Guy and have made my Mum a fan. She likes Stewie because he's cheeky and Peter taking things too far.
