General anime thoughts/discussion thread.

Rarely watch AMVs but man this is a fantastic tribute to the Macross franchise. The Macross 7 edit someone made a few years ago was a fun meme so it's cool to see someone finally flesh it out into a full music video, even including clips from video games in the franchise.

Jerome, who owned Manga Entertainment before selling it to Funimation, who were bought out by Crunchyroll, bought out by Sony.

I'm with you now, Turbanator. I think?.. I recalled Jerome was involved with Animatsu (mainly as they had so few releases, most of which I owned) but thought him to be a mere representative of Mangle/Matsu.
Tbf, he wasn't nearly as memorable to me as Andrew with his passion to bring French Gankutsuou to the English masses.

Everyone gets purchased/eaten by someone bigger eventually; until they become (a) Crunchyroll. 'Tis the way of life~ And Iron irony I surmise Jerome was loathe to add to his CR musings/industry knowledge...

Yeah, Jerome worked for Manga for quite a while, but Manga went down the crapper (I seem to recall Jerome had a social media meltdown at one point too) and they parted ways. Jerome started Animatsu, and made enough of a success of it, that when Manga hit the skids, he was able to buy it and bring it back to life, working pretty much in lockstep with Funimation.

The rest is misery/history.

Not to Jerome it ain't!... or at least it wasn't last year, when he posted a blog disguised as a resume that helpfully fills in some blanks. Doesn't mention Animatsu, though. I approve of him masking it as empathy for others seeking employment on Linkedin btw. 'Tis cunning.

My Resume is Complicated

In my experience, anyone that types so much about themselves unprompted - or types that much in general casually tbh - is a wee bit of an arsehoe. Like, really, how can anyone lack that sorta self-awareness!?
I can deffo see the irony of the other article now, simply by glancing at the posed photo of himself at his desk, legs up. He's very much 'MD' material, as he puts it. Also not fond of his curlyXcyberpunk one sided hair--on a man it just looks wrong, man...

...Maybe I was too harsh to Andrew.
