Funimation Reveals Premiere Dates for Summer 2018 Anime Simuldubs

Still have to wait a couple weeks for angels of death. Kind of bummed I have to wait so long but what can I expect really?

So the biggest franchise starting this season... Is still TBA... lol

At least we're not being missed off for anything.

I might switch to sub for AoT. Saw season 1 ages ago and haven't seen s2 yet, so will have to binge it on Crunchyroll (still got just over a week before S3 e1).

On FunimationNow, the season 2 simuldub was often delayed by another week because they had to wait until Toonami had aired the dub the day before on US TV. By the time they'd frequently put it off a week so they could air something that suited them more (for example Captain America on Independance Day) people in this country were several weeks behind for the dub at least. The sub's broadcast dates on Crunchyroll were regular enough and way ahead of the dub so this time round I'm sticking with the sub.

Great, probably means we'll have to put up with that for My Hero Academia next year (it just started broadcasting this year). Arbitrary delays like that are the most frustrating plus the circle of people we can discuss each week's episode with will shribk.

I've had to do this with MHA. It's annoying but the sub is usually good as well. It gives some incentive to buy the home release to hear the dub for me at least.

I suppose I can ultimately learn to live with delays. I can only watch dubs due to my vision, as nice as same day SimulDubs are they're a big undertaking and most shows won't have them. I've been dealing with three week delays for Steins Gate and FMP. However, at least I can under stand the delays in regards to scheduling and workload. Knowing a show is facing a delay that shouldn't need to exist just bugs me.

But I can look at things in perspective, its better than waiting over a year to stream something like One Punch Man or being stuck with home releases only.

Yeah with FMP! IV and S;G Z I've just waited for the simuldub each week since they're my preferred ways to watch. It's worth the wait since the cast are doing such a good job.

I watched Steins;Gate fairly recently and went with the dub because I was binging and it was a sci-fi show so easier to understand watching the dub, so went with the dub for Zero as well. It's the same with Free this season, I watched the dub of seasons 1 and 2 very recently so will put up with the wait.

I heard the new cast dubs voices aren’t good like Maho. I mean I stopped watching dubs after FUNi ruined Free ES so three years ago now but when I watch SG I chose JP anyway for if I wanted to read the VN.

They're fine, nothing stands out as being bad to me, and Okabe's the main focus of enjoyment for me anyways so as long as his voice actor does a good job I'm satisfied, and J. Michael Tatum really delivered.

I can't recall if the dub for Free! ES was bad or not but I'll be watching S3 subbed because of the delay.

I think if you havent seen the JP I bet its fine but they turned the gay up, started taking liberties with the script and it didnt go down well at all especially when Free has vocal fanbase it didnt end well.
Like CRs S1 is a lot more closer to the script of the sub than S2. So lets what high speed is like with its new director and how S3 will be too

I did check out the sub for both Free! seasons and they were good. I agree that Iwatobi Swim Club had a better script and dub than ES which feels weird watching them one after the other.

Your feeling on Maho will depend on whether or not you're bother by Monica Rial being in so many shows, especially this season. I never feel she performs badly so it never gets to me , though I admit its possible my perspective might be skewed because of just how pleasant she is on Twitter. Hearing her speak some Japanese in episode 1 was pretty surreal!
