Funimation rescues Excel Saga anime...

I feel a vague lack of enthusiasm to this, but I guess it would have been something that sold better than average with the casual crowd.

Exellent news, already got the complete coillection so probaly wont double dip,but its good to hear that one of the funniest shows ever will be on the market again. :D

D. Gray-man isn't strictly a money issue, Stu, they're having some issues negotiating the rights with Dentsu. Could still be the money, I guess, but I got the impression they were still working on it.

The news that Funi have picked up Tokyo 2040 and Noir is kinda cool. BGC Tokyo 2040 is perfectly good fun with a few beers and some popcorn.

I'd been kicking myself for not picking up Noir when the ADV sets were still around. I'll happily snag that when it gets a Funimation release.

Um, Noir ADV boxset, £14.99 with all the extras and all the Easter Eggs (of which they are plenty).

Pounce, pounce like a leopard!

If you like Noir, buy Phantom next year. It's similar and owns sluggish, often boring Noir into the ground. (It's also the only Bee Train anime with a decent average, over on MAL.)

My interest shall be piqued when one can obtain the original Bubblegum Crisis, without having to spend the earth or line the pockets of HMRC.

A billion thank-yous for this heads up. Sadly, due to financial ruin, I must pass up this one. :(

(Ironically, that makes news of Funi's rescue of the series even MORE welcome!)

And Phantom does indeed sound very interesting. I saw some stuff to do with that elsewhere. It'll be going on my list, that's for sure.

You do realise that Funi will strip all the extras?

Just saying...

Can't you like... mug a pensioner or something? :p

Is there a list of these easter eggs? I have the ADV release already.
Ask and ye shall receive

I can't help but think that if ADV had publicised these features (instead of y'know, hiding them) they might have shifted a few more copies of their titles.

Happy that all these have been rescued. None could be classed as top tier titles (Excel Saga in particular is absolute Marmite, I love it just as much as some hate it) but none deserve to be consigned to oblivion either. I might finally pick up BGC: 2040 and give it a go if it's going to be available cheaply.

Another off topic Noir observation; why does Tiffany Grant pronounce the name 'Chloe' like the first part of the word 'Cloaca'? That bugged the hell out of me. "That's how it sounds in the Japanese language track" is not a valid answer. By that logic all English dubs should sound like the scenes in Japanese Black Lagoon where Revy speaks English.

"Episode 15 and 16 audio commentary – Episode 15, the moment 18 minutes in, when the character Shaoli touches the forehead of her opponent lightly with a single fingernail, press the UP arrow key on the DVD player remote ten times."

Was this a joke? These people are ill.

I'll definitely be purchasing these, as an avid viewer of 90's anime, this was the perfect parody, anime has changed a lot since excel saga so I can understand why a lot of people don't get it. The only episodes I have any real qualms with is the menchi-centric episode and the final episode 'going too far.'

I did especially like the romance episode, but I had spent a good 6 months playing Tokimeki Memorial on a Snes emulator.
