Biggest shock is that FUNimation actually has that many actors/actresses.

I'm happy with:
Cana (Jamie Marchi)
Elfman (Christopher R. Sabat)
Erza (Colleen Clinkenbeard)
Loke (Eric Vale - if his voice is more like Francisco in Romeo x Juliet, and not Kimblee in FMA xD)
Lucy (Cherami Leigh)
Mirajane (Monica Rial)

Iffy about:
Happy (Tia Ballard)
Mystogan (Rob McCollum)

Not happy about:
Grey (Newton Pittman)
Laxus (Patrick Seitz)

Not a fan of at all:
Natsu (Todd Haberkorn)

Rest are pretty minor characters, so meh. Also, it seems like R Bruce Elliott is FUNimation's old man.

My first reaction was "wow, they need that many actors?". I couldn't think of enough major speaking roles in FT that they couldn't have some people doing multiple voices.

I guess the problem is, as the manga is still ongoing, they don't know who might have a bigger role in the future, for example Loke just before the Tower of Heaven arc and Cana in the S-Rank Trial arc . So if they have a character who is voiced by an actor who voices a main character, and both end up having big roles in an arc, it might get confusing.

At least they had sense to give Siegrain, Jellal and Mystogan the same voice actors. I was pretty disappointed at how Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood's dub didn't retain Truth having the same seiyu as whoever was seeing Truth at the time.

Not a bad point, I'll give you that.

Have to be careful not to make it obvious, though.

that's easy untill battle for fairy tail, Mystogan doesn't even speak, and at that point Laxus has pointed it out

Well to be honest, Mystogan doesn't talk much anyway. Although, looking at McCollum's previous roles; he could probably do Mystogan a bit deeper, but not too deep that the voices sound completely different.

EDIT: @Ryo Ryo - I think he had like, the odd couple of lines before that, but yeah, he didn't really get any sort of prominant speaking roles (or screen time for that matter) until Battle of Fairy Tail.

Todd Haberkorn using his usual Todd voice = bad. Sure, Todd's voice kinda suits Natsu when he's just talking...but shouting? Todd needs to make Natsu sound angrier, more aggressive. During the action scene at the end, I couldn't sense any anger from Natsu, and Todd cannot shout.
Happy's voice = Bad. What the hell happened to the cute "Aye!"? It sounds horrible!
Aquarius' voice sure could sound harsher...

Lucy's voice sounded odd at first, but I was used to it by the second half of the episode.

I wish he could be a bit louder though; the sound effects kinda dwarfed his voice.
