It's popular - but for good reasons. I couldn't finish the manga and sold them recently (it gets to the point where she's just... too kind-hearted and sappy this is about volume 15 or something so you're in the clear for the anime) The great thing about it is that it finished while it was still good. Didn't drag it out, didn't pretend to be anything more than it was. Just a modest anime and great likable characters. Full of fluff and smiles.
