Now that's a difficult decision. i could argue a good case for all of them but Laputa will always have a special place in my heart.

I voted other because Castle of Cagliostro isn't on the list :p

It was my first experience with Miyazaki and probably my fondest memory. Every time I've watched a Ghibli film since I've had much higher expectations. Of course they're always able to match (or exceed) them, but it's Lupin that sticks best in my mind. Laputa would be a close second, though.

Spirited Away just over Grave of the Fireflies - maybe because it wasn't quite as depressing, not that I have an aversion to depressing anime or anything.

Just surprised no-one else voted for totoro yet - I saw it way back in 1996 at 8 on a saturday morning on sky (porco rosso was on on the sunday :p), and immediately broke the tab off my video in case any sod tried to tape over them... I'd been introduced to anime through the violent films that were all the rage at the time, and it was such a breath of fresh air to see something so serene and beautiful. I want DVDs nowww :'(

Totoro is fun , I have the old FoX dub only version on DvD and I really adore the cute sweet nature of the film in general. Its a film I know I can watch that will make me smile . The Totoro's themselves are just amazingly cute too.

my favourite is princess mononoke

Srsrly?!?!?!

I've only seen Spirited away and Kiki's Delivery Service- because they have been on TV when i could catch them.

And. . .this thread is super olde.

That is brutally difficult!

Basically i have always put Miyazaki's films in 3 camps.

The epics: Nausicaa, Mononoke, Laputa

The coming of age films: The rest

with Porco rosso not really fitting in there.

As such i would say Mononoke AND Totoro, but only Rosso really comes lower than the others.

Kiki's (Best Ghibli dub in my opinion)
Princess Mononoke
The Cat Returns
Laputa

i have howls moving castle and spirited away but haven't watched them yet.

Howl's Moving Castle isn't even worth watching, I don't see what the big deal with it is, IMO it was Miyazaki's weakest movie by far, even though originally he wasn't the one meant to be directing in the first place.
