Fan Dumb

Does anyone really know the definition of a weeabo? I love Japan, but that doesn't make me a weeabo because I'm not oblivious to the flaws of the country [or the xenophobia that some, Osaka, may have]
Osaka is xenophobic? Who knew?

But then again, there were signs...

Thread has more than proved it's point (sadly) and should die now.

On the subject of comics, I'm a fan, although I don't follow much specially but generally, they are really cool. I don't get the hate. I would argue that certain continuities and stories are hard to get into because a lot of the mainstream superheroes span decades back, but there's always a preference between Asian comics and Western comics for people. There are people who like cartoons to anime, and people who prefer manga to comics but they are equal in every way. I somewhat think its because manga/anime is a youngsters game, whereas comics are more for the elders nerds. I agree with BlackWolf, and say that perhaps even more work (although subjective) goes into the average comic.

Only comic(s) I have to pretty get much straight away are the Buffy / Angel ones. ;p Except, I don't buy weekly. I get the volumes.

There should be more comic shops in England. I'd love that.

Extra points:
- There are black and white comics.
- What about UEL stuff?

The town near where I used to live had four independent comic stores a decade ago. It was incredible. Now? Zero :(

There's something special about the atmosphere of a proper comics shop.

I'm another in the camp of liking western comics as well as manga/anime. I read far more manga nowadays than comics but liking both isn't so weird, really.

Was it me, the character or the city that was being mentioned just then?

(Before anyone jumps up, I'm aware of Japan's flaws, and to be honest, I'd much rather visit France. )

And it's a similar situation where I live too, only with cinemas. My town used to have 4 cinemas, then they all closed and now I have to travel over an hour just to see a film.

Literally, all there is in my town are phone shops and pound shops.

I agree with the comic shop thing, I'd love to get comics on an easy route. The closest comic shop to my area happens to be about 10 steps from the nearest cinema though.

Too bad the inhabitants of my town would probably outrage if a comic book place opened here. They'd be furious because they wanted a Primark or another phone shop.
