Evangelion trailer on youtube (bad quality)

If EVA was produced today, with this animation; do you people think it would still stand out a legacy as much as it does today?
You mean if it didn't come out in 1995? It'd be considered "That mecha show that attempted to match RahXephon."

Isn't Eva just a mecha show that attempted to match Ideon? That hasn't hurt its success much.

Also RahXephon wouldn't exist at all if it wasn't for Eva. Perhaps more importantly it wouldn't have any promenance in the West at all if it wasn't for Eva. People seem mainly drawn to it because "it's that show that's like Eva but isn't emo". As far as I know it just kind of came and went in Japan.

I think you could say that a similar thing has happened with both Ideon and Rah. You don't really hear people talking about them much accept outside of comparisons with Eva. With Ideon it was forgotten for like ten years unlike other 80's mecha such Macross and Gundam and then suddenly everyone's talking about how great series it is (which it isn't).

Anyway this thread is about the trailer.

They had just better have the Angel Attack music in these new movies. Dun dun dun dun dun DUN dun dun.

Nah, Nah, Nah. It's all about the creepy Rei Piano theme. You know what I mean. That's so haunting especially when you watch it at night.

Aw yeah. Two of my favourite pieces of original music in Eva.

I've heard him do acting for movies like The Prestige, Labrynth and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and I think he'd be just as capable as most of the dub actors around since a lot of them(especially ADV's staff) can't even act in the first place.

GETTING OFF TOPIC!

... way to take my comment so seriously, or is Evangelion serious business?

Nah Ark's just got a bee in his bonnet about RahXephon. Goes all foamy at the mouth everytime it's mentioned.

Anyhow, my wonder about the movies is how much is going to be 'new'. Given that episodes 1-6 are the first movie, the runtime of just the series (minus OP and ED) is about 120 min which while a bit of an arse killer of a movie is doable. Now they may cut/shorten bits (probably out of episodes 3-4), Anno could just 'reshoot' the existing episodes and be done with it. Now while i doubt that (especially given his posturing about shaking up anime again), how much is going to be retreading old ground with new graphics and how much is going to be a new plot?
