With UK anime fans excited by the news that RaptureTV will launching on Sky Digital on Monday morning, I've just posted a new editorial article titled "A new era for the UK community?"<ul class="menu">"We have been saying it for a while now but these be exciting times for UK anime fans, all of the improvements over the last few years have been building towards this point and now it's finally here, it's important that we show our support and prove that the UK anime community consists of more than one broken man and his tattered plushie!"</ul><a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/viewarticle.php?showarticle=32">Read the entire editorial here</a>.

Thats a great article. Im really interested in the UK anime community too and everything you have put there i agree with and im thankful that we are past them times and there is a bright future for anime which hopefuly will only go from strength to strength.

and with rapture showing anime the anime has made a new big step to becoming better.

I really can't wait to see how FMA and WR fair on Rapture and what it will mean for the UK community. Although I'm slightly worried about them being thrown in at the deep end with no late night repeats, I feel quite optimistic that all this exposure will be massive for UK fandom.

well i guess it being at 8:30 shows that they are trusting it to go well, at a prime time spot. I just cannot wait for it, just like you Paul! *excited* is it FMA or Wolfs Rain first on tuesday?

I'm not too sure it will have that much of a major impact on the state of the industry.

Unless Rapture or MVM actively advertise where and when it can be seen on TV, the penetration will be low. If people know about it, they will watch it(ie people who aren't anime fans per se) and that is the only way something like this could prove successful imo.

There was a full page advert in the latest issue of NEO with the TV schedule info, but that said I doubt that Rapture or MVM and Beez can afford a large awareness campaign.

I don't think anyone is expecting instant success here but a solid grass roots movement matched with the actual quality of series on offer should eventually pay off through reputation and word of mouth. Just look at how popular NARUTO is in the UK based on fansubs alone. That is the point of this article, we need to make sure that people know about this.

Excellent article Paul :D

Things have definitely changed in the last couple of years. Seeing copies of NEO nestled alongside (albeit sometimes tucked behind) the likes of Empire and gaming mags is certainly encouraging, and the summertime conventions really hammer home how these "weird foreign cartoons" have slowly but surely become a form of entertainment that can be taken seriously by large numbers of people.

The great thing about Rapture is not only that it's nationwide, but the schedulers sought feedback and input from us - the fans. The best of luck to them: they deserve it.

I really worry about Raptures lack of exposure, I mean look at CNX they had loads of adverts but didn't last very long, Im still really looking forward to it though!

I was looking for Rapture TV yesterday, to listen to some good tunes! At least it will be put up today!
Anime-wise, I doubt I'll even get a chance to watch it as my family hogs Sky TV all the time. But I'm not missing much with FMA and Wolf's Rain.
It's good that now we'll all be able to watch more anime on the good ol' box! I still miss the Sci-Fi channel days!

No sign of it yet, the channel seems to be still testing, but a new channel just got added at 287 so maybe they had to add that before the added Rapture, hopefully not long now.

i'm not so sure..they add channels all the time to random channel numbers...but yeah rapture should be up very very soon methinks

Good article Paul, and i definitely think we should be putting out the word as much as possible.

Shame it has to be put right at the end of the entertainment section (and right next to a new Play Boy channel), but lets still hope that it can get that solid grass roots movement Paul talked about, i think people were talking about the rumours of what they would be showing enough

Ok for those who have Sky but don’t have rapture in their tv guides, here’s how to add it.

First hit the Services button your remote then select ‘Syetem Setup’ followed by ‘Add Channels’ on the system set up menu, both should be option 4, then set the options as follows

Frequency (GHz) 11.344
Polarisation H
Symbol Rate (Mbaud) 22.0
FEC 2/3

Then highlight ‘Find Channels’ and press Select. You’ll see a list of channels one of which will be 53205, highlight it and press the yellow button to store it and press Select again to exit.

Return to the Services menu and select ‘Other Channels’ and you should see it there, simply highlight it and press Select to watch it.

Yeah I did that a while back, its just the same adverts over and over, but its still testing which is probably why they haven't added the proper channel yet.
