Easy to follow, light hearted anime

I watched the first 3 episodes of Heat Guy J and never picked it up again. The whole series is dumb; Everything is so similar to other anime series, it has nothing different. It's the most predictable anime I have ever seen. The characters are the worst - J's sidekick is the most annoying character I have ever seen.

Heat Guy J isn't particularly original or groundbreaking and pretty shallow but I thought it had enough about it to be entertaining in it's own way. It has some good designs, a decent soundtrack, some adrenaline pumping action sequences and even a few stand out stories. Enough to keep you entertained through the run of the series. At the price I got it for (£7.99) it was a pleasant surprise.

Basically out of a sea of mediocre anime this is probably one of the most entertaining of them.

I dropped it after 8 or so episodes. I'll probably never sell the series because I own both Geneon art boxes, which look nice on my shelf, but the series itself is a fairly poor one. It's one of the weaker episodic series out there, with nothing on likes of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Samurai Champloo.

No matter how much I wanted to I could not get into Samurai Champloo at all. The whole thing from the characters to the setting to the soundtrack was like nails down a blackboard. The same with BECK really, something about it just didn't sit right.

Read or Die and the TV series are fun action series that are pretty straightforward. Great animation with good dubs too. They are so bursting with energy through the characters, music and action sequences that it's hard not to enjoy them despite their flaws.

Azumanga daioh is the easiest anime to watch. You might like Lucky star, too, but I found it quite frustrating at times when they take ages talking about something stupid. They both have no real plot and have funny/ordinary characters.

I just watched 3 episodes of this and... hmm I dunno what to make of it. Half of me likes how laid back it is, but its a bit... silly? I'll stick with it but its nothing wonderful. I guess I just dont find it that funny.

Out of Azumanga, Genshiken and FMA, i personally would go with Genshiken. Its nice and easy going, never too serious and its good comedy wise too. Azumanga is pure comedy, nothing really else to it, light hearted and again easy to follow, but you need to be in the mood for something thats just pure comedy. FMA, probably the most serious of the 3, but still not too much(mind you, i've only watched 8 episodes, so i can't say much else), still not to bad to follow at least.

I think your right about Azumanga, I may switch to Genshiken by the end of the week.

I had not thought of R.O.D. but it think it would be a good choice. With the OVA being great. The series is good as well but is a different beast to the OVA.

I think it has to be said

Honey & Clover

i should review about this, but i'd prefer to do it offline.
anyhow for a short brief you could say it's a light hearted comedy/slice of life that focuses on the actualities of life itself.
It's old but its quite touching

Oh yeah. Its about gangsters. But i wont say anything else because i dont want to ruin it. But dont worry its not complicated or anything like that.

last year the UK anime magazine Neo gave GunGrave the best anime of the year award.
