DVD Storage

How do I stop pages yellowing because of dust when I'd have to take 400+ books off my shelves to remove it?
You could always buy comic book sleeves in which to store your graphic novels. I don't know about now but back when I bought manga from Forbidden Planet, all their books were stored in those sleeves, presumably in an attempt to prevent sweaty geeks from dirtying up the pages. But since they were expensive, I decided to keep the books in them. Nowadays, since manga is cheaper and printed on lesser quality paper, I don't bag as many, but it's worth doing if you're that concerned.

I started thinking about plastic bags for my new books and the games I like yesterday.

I know of cheap plastic bags I could put stuff into and seal, but are you referring to a specific type when you say "comic book sleeves"? /clueless

They have to be made of this stuff in order to hold back the ravages of time. Sandwich bags won't cut it I'm afraid. Don't do it though man, you don't want to turn into one of those people.

I loved this part: "It should be noted that while boPET is widely (and effectively) used in this archival sense, it is not immune to the effects of fire and heat and could potentially melt, depending on the intensity of the heat source." XD

I think if you stacked my DVDs it would come up to 24.5 inches
My collection is roughly 22 inches in length. Though dwarfed by most, hopefully it'll still be able to grow a little.

I long ago gave up on DVD cases for 8 dvd pages in a 400 dvd wallet....currently looking at where to get wallet number 5 from while sending my....8th crate of dvd cases up into the loft.....still another 3 or 4 shelves of empty cases to be boxed up.

I just bought a few terra drives for the pc and copied all my dvd's then put the discs into a few cd folders and stored them in the attic, ended up binning the covers as I never read them once I bought the dvd

It amazes me that people actually throw away cases and covers. I could never do that since I might want to sell the DVDs over time.
I don't want throw the cases away - i can save most of them and put them in the attic or anything. I just want to sort my space problem. I'll keep covers with the DVDs, that's my main objetive.

I really am going to need to find some some storage method myself. I have 7 x five foot long shelves full. Each long enough to house around 100 single DVD cases. I also have rows on the floor containing enough DVDs to fill around five more shelves of the same size. But I am not sure what to do, as with Chaos many are box sets or limited edition cases. fabricatedlunatic's link looks like it could be an option.

Buy a second brain cell?

I don't need one. I live in this one on my own so I can store stuff where I want. I just want it to look less messy when people come around.

Don't ask for the impossible Dracoss

now lets see a productive measure...hmmm what would be nice if one had the room, is a walk in wardrobe. Now that would be sweet. Behind a water tight resistant door made of cast iron, lies a collection not even UP1 could commit to in 20 years 8)

Buy deeper shelves & put the first volume of a series in front & the rest behind. Not as easy to access later volumes, but an option none the less.

Not really. I would have to sell all my DVDs, manga, comics, figures and other collectables to finance it. Then I would not have need for the storage space. Although in the current financial climate somebody might swap my collection for a cheap house. Now that's an idea worth investigating.
