Eye-catching Japanese mental 'em up Catherine is coming to Europe.

Deep Silver has partnered with Atlus to bring the action adventure puzzle game to these shores this year.

Catherine has made headlines for being odd, pretty and risqué.

It follows protagonist Vincent who has wacky nightmares after meeting a lady called Catherine. There's a puzzle-action element that involves trying not to be killed in varying ways.

"We are very proud to be able to publish Catherine in all PAL territories as a Deep Silver game," said Deep Silver boss Klemens Kundratitz.

"Catherine is something new, fresh and exciting; unlike anything else in the gaming world – a unique mixture of genres."

Catherine is due to be released 2011 on PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

They're a pretty small publisher, not that it matters really as chances are only online retaillers are going to stock this anyway. They mostly, normally, publish European RPG's like Gothic and Risen.

Yeah I did look at them after I posted that, realized that if I paid more attention to who publishes PC games I would have recognized them easily. Will be interesting to see if they move more heavily into "this type" of game.

There's a couple of other really small publishers its worth taking an interest in (and their PR staff are always great), Rising Star and Ghostlight, who occassionally get release some proper gems (Ghostlight released Digital Devil Saga over here for example).

Yeah those two I would consider much higher profile (in the context of small game publishers), since they have had quite a few "high interest niche" titles already on consoles.

Don't worry about it. :p The name alone does not make the game stand out, so the threads can be easily missed. Once you know a little about the game, however, it becomes much more interesting.
