Crunchyroll Reveals 2026 Anime Awards Winners in Tokyo after a Record 73 Million Votes Cast Globally

huh, they're using the their voting system to greatly exaggerate the amount of users participating in it. They're likely counting each vote in the 32 categories and users can vote every day of the 14 days. So one person voting in all 32 categories for the 14 days would come to 448 votes by themself.

If every user voted every day in all categories that would only take around 163,000 voters.

A very shonen-heavy year and it's not that I don't think those shows didn't deserve recognition, but it would have been nice to see a spread. I was shocked Lazarus won best original anime; I liked that show more than a lot of people but had voted for Apocalpse Hotel!

Also Anya winning the must-be-protected award for several years running speaks to a real problem with the character awards; they really need to prevent characters being put up for it year after year like that.

Good to see Apothecary Diaries win a number of awards.

Interesting to see Demon Slayer take best film over Chainsaw Man the way people were banging on about it being the best thing ever! Looking at the nominations those were the only 2 I saw and I would have gone for Demon Slayer too, but only because Chainsaw Man was so boring for half the run time, Demon Slayer was only boring for about 20 minutes during the millionth flashback.
