UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

I knew this was going to be the case as soon as the Part 2 Blu-ray was announced. This is the same situation as Tonikawa, with a Season 1 LE and a Season 2 SE. I'm just planning to buy 4-disc Blu-ray case of the same size for each set to store both season's discs inside just the box sets.

That Spice & Wolf LE was puzzling to me as soon as it was announced. It barely cost any more than the standard edition, and while the mockup promo images aren't overly consistent in how they portray the box thickness, it was fairly obvious this was likely only the thickness to hold one case. Moreover, from what is shown all it comes with are three art cards, which Crunchyroll sometimes puts in regular editions too.

Tonikawa is like that for a different reason since S1 is via AL while S2 is Crunchyroll, though I'm not sure if you were implying otherwise or just pointing out your common solution. If you don't already know, 4-disc Viva Elite cases should work.

Also, Spice & Wolf part 1 LE has already shipped? AL is showing the release date as 19th January 2026. It was delayed to that when part 2 was announced, I think.

Yes, I just got notice from Crunchyroll US on Thursday that the Part 1 CE over here has shipped to me. Part 2 is now on Backorder on the Crunchyroll website.

And yes, I mentioned Tonikawa because of it having the same physical issue - not withstanding that they were released by two different distributors. I'm still probably going to Frankenstein both parts of that set together as well.

Man, I hate what an absolute sh*tshow CRs online store is. Last year they shipped a large order with zero packaging so several collectors editions got damaged in transit and this year they’ve managed to ship my order missing half of the items 🙄

Unless you mean the US branch, why not just order from AOL/MVM? Bar the unfortunate abbreviation to chatting of yesteryear (I have always been baffled why MVM's store is not... MVM), they stock CR items at excellent prices, and you can be assured of prompt delivery/professional packaging. The only downside is being charged immediately.

I am probably going to order all UK anime from AOL, going forward, bar store exclusives. Since Anime Limited added P&P, I'm seeing little reason order from them direct when AOL oft price close to or occasionally better AL's early birdies. There was a Naruto set AL wanted £79.99 for, AOL £69.99, iirc. And Amazon, even if have some better prices, never get stock on release, much like with manga--no doubt that's why they attempted to pillage every Perfect Blue copy in existence.

Girly-dono, would thou happen to knoweth the exact size of case that would be able to hold 4-discs, and not warp the cover art/fit? Thy mastery of otaku-dom is sugoi/subarashi; one can only marvel at your postings across the internet chronicling your collection. And as an American on a UK anime forum that imports/owns everything that exists to be purchased, I feel one such as yourself would be familiar with the slimline case proportions, as implied in thy message. Surely one such as yourself must have known as soon as you set your eyes on the set!

Kansha if you could provide a link with the case you are purchasing to replace S&W's with, to a lowly cur such as myself, desu. There is another on this forum, far more awed by your internet presence than watashi, that wishes for your guidance. Arigato, in advance.

I just take measurement of the existing case spine and buy a multi-disc case with the same width spine. There may be a problem if Crunchyroll is using a 12mm case for the two discs, as a 4-disc case is 14mm, which would still work OK for the coversheet but may be too tight for the box unless you remove the art cards. I'll just have to scope out a solution once I receive the set later this week. If it won't work, then it won't work, that's all.

I wouldn’t order from them normally but in this case the price was drastically cheaper. Frieren S1 Part 1 and Demon Slayer Swordsmith Arc were £10 each and the Solo Leveling CE was £20. Same with sale prices last year. It’s just slightly annoying they can’t manage the basics.
