Finally! I already have it on PS3/PS4 and my Vita is set to Japan anyway but now there's a better chance that new fans will discover a decent way to watch anime legally. Animax's reign of terror is over, I guess.

That's something I'm kind of curious about.

None of us had any idea as to why Crunchyroll wasn't able to reach the UK market aside from a theory that Sony's Animax UK app taking exclusive rights over the region or something. But now that Crunchyroll can finally get to us and Viewster hopefully aims to get their service available on other game consoles (like PlayStation), we can get a very decent set-up to compare against the folks in US whom have Funimation, Crunchyroll, Hulu etc.

So, the state of Animax is as stands:
- No simulcasts from the Summer season
- As of 28th August, Fairy Tail Series 2 is still stuck on Episode 239 (series is on 248 in 12 hours)
- Crunchyroll now has access to UK PlayStation store, defeating exclusivity

Assuming they're packing Animax App in, I wonder if they're skipping town outright with that and taking the TV airings (as non existent as they are on Arse o'clock on some random sky channel as it is) with them.

I forgot to check if the Animax app is still available at all but I did notice it had gone from the "all apps" list in the store on the PS4 a little while ago (it could be found by searching when I last checked).

I'm glad the Crunchyroll app is officially available now, it'll be handy to have it in more places around the house.

Like most people I basically set an account to the US for access to this, but it's really nice to see it available for the UK now as it probably will get a few more people interested in using it. I'm not too fussed if this is the end of Animax or not, but frankly I won't be disappointed if it does mean the end for them.

Hopefully Viewster get an app sorted out sometime soon as I'll be using the service a great deal more when they do!

It's not a theory. Apart from then saying it was the exclusive anime destination on the PS3 when they launched, the leaked Sony documents lay it out in black and white.

I gave it a shot. Last tried streaming about 6 months ago. The problem for people like me who are primarily dub watchers is that the selection is fairly limited and even when a service does have some dubs there's usually no easy way to work out which shows have dubs aside from loading every one to check... Given the multiple streaming sites and the amount of work required just to find something I want to watch it just isn't worth it for me at the moment. I know NG has a thread which lists some dub availability but I'm not sure how complete and up to date the dub aspect is kept...

I guess I'll continue blind buying blu-rays for now.

tl;dr streaming sites interfaces are generally good for finding shows you may want to watch but crap at finding dubbed shows you want to watch.
