We were discussing this on the Discord earlier, so I figured I'd make a forum topic for it as well. :)

If you broke your anime collection down by the studio who produced the show, which studio comes out on top? Here's my list as an example:

I made this list by going through my discs and counting each release as one entry. For example, I have both parts of Haikyu!! Season 1 which I counted as 2 entries. However, combined releases like the Fullmetal Alchemist Ultimate Edition would count as one release (despite having two collector's sets in it), because ultimately I think we should judge it by SKU's. Make sense? Good, now get to it! :D

Here is mine, this is blu-rays only. Decided to leave out DVDs, partly because my DVD collection is a lot smaller, but also because the amount of individual volume releases would give certain studios (Sunrise, KyoAni) an unfair advantage. :p

Sorry for this list being unorganised, this is how I noted everything down in Notepad going through my releases individually, in alphabetical order.

tl;dr: Madhouse and KyoAni tied for first place with 13 releases, Shaft a close second with 12.

Took me quite a while to do mine, I do have a few titles after all, so to save me a lot of typing, I'll just list my top 3 then link my spreadsheet.

1. Shaft - 28 - Hardly a surprise with all the Monogatari I own, honestly.
2. Studio Pierrot - 23 - Entirely due to Bleach. Without me owning all of it, it wouldn't be anywhere near the top.
3. Madhouse - 21 - This was the biggest shocker to me, I honestly didn't know how many Madhouse shows I owned.
4. Sunrise - 20 - I know I said top 3, but since Pierrot barely counts, I guess Sunrise is honorary third. This is mostly because of Gundam.

Mine would be effectively impossible as I have no lists of my collection at all and it's huge but I strongly suspect that Pierrot would win by a landslide; I have the single releases for shows like Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Recca and Urusei Yatsura which will probably completely dominate in a per-release counting system.

Decided to keep releases that had more than one studio on the production as a separate listing rather than split multiple points to any individual studio. Also, all studios have been named as they were at the time of release so there may be odd listing where the studios names are split (e.g Tokyo Movie Shinsha > TMS Entertainment). Also, anything that's on my 'surplus to requirements' pile has not been included as they aren't included within my full on main collection.

Was already adding studios to my spreadsheet so just needed to fill in the blanks. Also for my count for a series with singles i only count them once, as i think this makes for a more fair comparison.

Actually fun to see for which studios i have the most titles, and it was a close, ongoing, race between Production I.G and Madhouse with Sunrise and J.C. Staff hot on the top 2 their tails :)

Break down by distributor, learned that in the first six months of this year i didn't get any MVM release, so i rectified that later on and also got 5 of their releases during the MVM Christmas Sale. In the ranking Anime Ltd. takes over top three place from Aniplex.

So here we are again, with a new overview of what I have in my collection and how it expanded during the last year concerning studios and distributors. Actually I bought less anime titles in 2020 compared to 2019 and the years before it. That's also why there are no big changes in positions ...
... but finally Sunrise played catch-up with Madhouse and for both i have 87 titles in my collection. The reason Sunrise is now also in top spot is obviously due to Anime Ltd. Gundam releases :)

J.C. Staff now takes over spot three over from Production I.G

Biggest jumps are made by TMS Entertainment from 20 to 15 and Doga Kobo from 29 to position 21.
