An MVM "trailer reel" has been published on the BBFC website and amongst the lengthy list of previews, it contains two new (previously unannounced) anime series. Both Black Cat and surprisingly, Berserk look set to be released by MVM during 2007.

Berserk is a legendary 25 episode anime series created a decade ago (1997). It's based on an epic and violent medieval-themed manga by Kentaro Miura which charts the rise and fall of a talented regiment of mercenaries called the "Band of the Hawk".

Of course, until MVM officially confirm these licenses, this should be marked as rumor.

Berserk potentially being released in the UK is an amazing achievement! :) I'm such a fan of the anime, my long time favourite, and I'm delighted to see it could well be in the UK. Great news, this.

SAY WHAT!? Berserk in the UK? No way. D:

I'll probably buy it, I may or may not buy Black Cat though, since it wasn't all that good, but eh, I'll go well since I have the manga. ~_~

I'm the hell against MVM Having thier dirty way with anythig Funimaion related, even the low qualty stuff such as black cat.

Beserk...I would feel sorry for Media Blaster's highest seller geting stamped over by such a slipshawd company but Media Blaster's ain't any better in my book (You deny the greatest giant robot show ever you deny amnasty in my eyes).

This is wrong Black Cat is a Funimation license so Revleation will be releasing it if it were to come out here. It's not bad but Gonzo really changed to much from the manga with it.

Indeed, in fact if I was a company like ADV, MVM etc I'd throw as much money as possible at getting the rights for shows like Berserk and make a big deal and effort to the dvds, I remember when trigun finally came out in the UK, I thought woot trigun finally, hope they make a good job of it, what did we get? A piss poor effort, static menus, no extras

MVM most likely got the license direct from Gonzo in Japan, skipping over Funimation in America. This is most likely how MVM are able to keep other Funmation shows like Speed Grapher, Basilisk and Samurai 7 after Funi split to Revelation at the beginning of this year.

Berserk in the UK will be great and it is long overdue. I've only seen a few of the episodes but its brilliant. Here's hoping it is confirmed.

What is it this time? Did your wife run off with an MVM employee or something?

Honestly, I can't see why anyone would see a problem with a show being available on DVD in their home country - if you think that's worse than having to download fansubs (which are still *technically* illegal), you're basically an idiot.

I have to say Black Cat is well worth buying the series just got better as it went on although I always wanted to see more of Svens brief case

Does anyone know when we will know if Black Cat is coming out or not?
By the weekend I suspect. This appears to be a promotional disc which is likely to be distributed by MVM at the forthcoming London Expo where this is likely to be announced.
