AyaCon 2009 announced!

ah, I see what you mean.
I thought the value was the same 45 quid that I've paid for amecon last year. Transport and accommodation expenses maybe?
Can't remember how much I've spent on train and hotel the last time...

Accomodation is the main killer. It's around £50 per night at Aya, which when you see most people stay for three nights is £100. At Ame, there was a more expensive (similarly priced) choice, but there was also the cheaper accomodation as well.

Travel fee's shouldn't be that different, considering both are Midlands based cons (though my travel costs are halved since Coventry is in the West Midlands region)

I would really like to go to Aya but the accommodation confusion completely put me off. I like staying in the proper venue since it's always more fun; however they seemed to have ridiculously uncompromising rules which bothered me (I'd have to have a different room to my husband? And it might be in a completely different part of the facility to his with no flexibility? My husband doesn't even own a mobile phone, no way am I going to bother with that). And the rooms are expensive too which is doubly irritating when sharing isn't allowed.

Please report how the Momoi concert goes. I'm very jealous. It was almost enough to change my mind in the end.

Found out going as well. Seem to always get in at the last minute.
See you there then. Did you change your number? I've txt / left a message for you a while back to check if you were going.

I need people to hang around with =)

Beez will be there as ever - looking forward to seeing you guys :)! Swing by the dealers room and say hi!

Beez may be there but it seems like no one else is running a panel...well...there's state of the industry I suppose....

It's a shame....I generally look forward to those.

...and I won't be swinging by just to say hi....I'll be swinging by to hand over my wallet in return for new and shiny items (depending on what you have).

For those who know me from my last run on the forums my badge name will be: The Chom ..feel free to say hi even if I look grumpy..it probably just means I'm considering which of my organs I need to sell to fund purchases of new Gundams.

I recommend selling one eye and one ear, since you already have spares.

I'll be at the Beez and State of the Industry panel - taking notes for my blog and to spread the gospel on a few forums here and there. Obviously my badge name is Fudce, and just look out for the guy with long hair and a beard!

We'll have stuff like our latest releases (Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann Volume 1 + LE for starters) along with an assortment of our old stuff - effectively whatever LDMS had in stock to send us for the event!

There're two panels:

- Beez Entertainment panel (Q+A) - 4pm Saturday in the Theatre.
- State of the Industry - Sunday 11-12 in the Theatre

The Beez panel has always been scheduled just there was a hiccup meaning it got missed from the sheets originally. Look forward to seeing whoever can make it anyway and chatting to whoever gets there though.

State of the Industry panel should be a cracker this year though given all that's happened over the last year though...

Made it back in one piece and it was a lot of fun. :D

Was cool to met up with Fudce and Chaos, even though I defected from the our winning name that tune quiz team (and paid the price by losing to them in the pub with the next day!)

Cheers for the weekend guys! XD

Thank god the Haruko Momoi concert made it onto youtube. I had no idea Aya had managed to get a big name in like her; this truly puts Aya above & beyond other large UK anime conventions. Though for reasons of distance & accomodation I doubt I'll ever find myself at Ayacon again (or any other university-based convention for that matter), the temptation is ever greater to go now Aya has raised the bar.

The question is, how will you equal or beat that at the next Ayacon?

Ha ! our prize was greater than god, more evil than the devil, what poor men have and rich men want for, though eating it means death.
Other than that It was good fun. much nice place than the Amecon site, better food, if some what spread out and remote. The weird thing was that there were hardly any queues. Which I weirdly missed, because it was where i met most people i know at con's. The guests where okay, pity i've never heard of them.

But strangely having seen them in action I quite like them now...

(forgot you were on this particular forum, which I why I didn't mention you before! Go team! Lol!)

It was great meeting you guys there. I've also met Panda Z, although, we couldn't talk much as I've only spotted her in a couple of the panels.
(And given her situation she didn't want to join us in the pub for the quizzes).
