AUKN's Best of 2010 - Half Time Edition

No really specific form or theory to this thread, just basically name anything that you thought was the best "whatever" from the first six months of the year. New show in Japan, new DVD release in the US or here, OP or ED, character, whatever you've enjoyed this year so far.

I'll kick it off with my favorite show of the year so far: Durarara!!

Every episode of this show packed in so much character, so much intrigue, so much polish, the level of quality was outright tangible. It just oozed from every pore of the show.

An exceptional voice cast is arguably the highlight of the production values, but it doesn't let itself down in any area - character design, score, OP and ED themes, editting.

Izaya is the stand-out character in a cast with enough "main character" potential for five other shows - truly detestable, but for all the "right" reasons.

I second Durarara!!

Everything about it was well done and thought out and I cant really think of anything that bothered me about the series.

Just because I don't want to follow the Rah Rah Train, I watched Baccano! earlier this year and was positively blown away by it. I've never seen a show pack so much brilliance into a short amount of time. I absolutely adore the fact its a complete story in itself, it begins on the train, ends on the train and although we see different years before and after - the train is the piece that holds it all together. And Isaac and Miria have to be the Greatest Characters of All Time.

This is much more recent, but after several fillers, the one episode of One Piece that just aired (459). I loved that, a lot. The revelations, the excitement and the promise of what's to come... its just fantastic.

Best development in UK anime marketing: Beez launching the Anime Legends line. A no-brainer, really.

Let's hope the line flourishes and grows.

BakaTest would make my list for:

Best Comedy (although tough competition from K-ON!!)
Best OP & ED
Best Pink Haired Character
Best Trap

at least.

My favourite manga of 2010 (so far) would probably be Deadman Wonderland (I'm currently waiting on the 3rd volume to be released)

Anime wise, I'd probably jump on the DRRR!! bandwagon.

Evangelion 2.22

It was last year in Japan, but this year for the rest of us, mostly. Otherwise I couldn't say, everything has been pretty bad so far. I regret watching Durarara.

having a 12 episode TV adoption off KissxSis was more then enough consumption of ecchi, equally making Riko Suminoe love goddess of the moon
