The Anime UK News podcast team have just released their latest podcast and it is a pretty big one as it is a discussion with Andrew Partridge, a man who is familiar to the UK anime audience thanks to his work as representative of Kaze UK, his work with Scotland Loves Anime and his tireless dedication to promoting anime in the UK. He has recently launched a new company in the shape of Anime Limted which has announced the release of titles like Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop on DVD and Blu-Ray (for latter). Find out what AUKN and Andrew discuss in the podcast and take part in the discussion by the thread in the news forum.

AUKN have interviewed some of the big figures in UK anime like Helen McCarthy and Jonathan Clements in the past. Why not listen to some of those interviews for an even greater insight into anime!

Strangely, this is the only time skype has ever given us real bother. I suppose there's always teamspeak or the likes, but skype seems to have a built-in noise cancelling filter that (usually) works really well.

I must confess that I've never actually seen Upotte!, it was just the first thing I thought of that sort of fitted the description for (next episode's topic) and seemed like the sort of thing that Vivi would hate.

All you need to know is the phrase "Clit Triggers" (Learned from Bamboo Dong (Seriously that's her name) on ANN's Podcast).

And then all you'll need is several gallons of disinfectant to run that chemical shower to get the creeper off you.

Also I think it addressed almost any question I might have had about the industry in Europe and the UK and it's certainly nice to get a bit of insight into matter that aren't usually discussed. I'd have been interested to hear whether Andrew watches any current airing anime though, since he seems like a busy man. But I guess that beggars can't be choosers.

I watch one episode from each show I humanly can get around to and I watch at least two shows per season.

In Autumn I watched all of BTOOM!, Magi, Psycho-Pass and 'K' - this season I am watching Magi, Psycho-Pass and Tamako Market.

Usually watch 1 episode while I am in the gym as it fills a full cross-train session pretty well and keeps me focussed.

Andrew

I'm not watching Psycho Pass since it's FUNimation only and not on YouTube, locked or no (this season they started uploading simulcasts there again but, unlike a few seasons ago with Aria, DenYuuDen and Campanella they are all locked anyway. Even Haganai Next, despite Haganai still being unlocked). Finished Btoom! and K, although I'm starting to get behind on Magi.

I also never got to see Upotte since it was locked on Crunchyroll.

I'll have to remember to listen to the podcast later.

Mai Mai Miracle is a brilliant anime on a par with the best of Ghibli but will a UK audience appreciate it as much?
I totally agree Mai Mai Miracle is one of the most touching and beautiful movies i have ever seen,as you said its right up there with Ghibli,s finest,My Neighbour Totoro is my all time fave movie but Mai Mai Miracle comes a very close second, and i,d snap it up asap if it ever hit the UK market especially a blu-ray release, then again would it do well over here,i really dont know,Ghibli is now a household name even for non anime fans but its always going to be hard to sell a stand alone movie especially in a small market without the backing of big names to sell and market the product to anyone out side the anime fanbase, yeah we are all familiar with studio Madhouse and director Sunao Katabuchi has a awesome cv of work to his name but is it enough, mind you a cinema release and word of mouth can work wonders.

I think this was probably the most important episode of the podcast so far (with my apologies to Helen McCarthy). Hopefully you can get Andrew on again in a few months time to see how everything has shaken out.
