All my close friends know I'm like anime but randomers in my school dont; although this is probably due to the fact they don't know what anime is :l .

I wear my FMA necklace everyday but no-one knows what it means ( and most people give me dirty looks because they think im a satanist NOTE: the crucified snake on the cross of the necklace)


I havent attended a convention yet (because of travelling expenditure and the fact no-one will go with me).

If you walked into my room you may have a sneaky suspicion I liked it but one glance at my Manga/dvd collection and BAM " yep shes obsessed"
 
Id say I was, my close friends know, one likes some Ghibli movies and has seens FMA and DBZ, rest dont really care much. Sometimes it would be easier living in america.

Same, people in england only like family guy and american dad for example, in america it seems much more popular. They dont show any anime on British Tv either (apart from sky -_-)

I love FG and AD and alot of other american shows, I just spread them out with anime. The thing with america, is they dont have terrestrial, they are fully digital, we dont go digital till 2009 (I think).
 
Nope, everyone knows I watch anime.

To be honest, if you hide the fact that you're an anime fan; almost disgraced that you do (some people actually are), then I can honestly say you aren't really a fan, and don't deserve to watch it.

I assumed that was what we were talking about. If not, forget this post. xD
 
Most people at college know I watch anime. But where I live know one I know even knows what anime is :lol: So when they see my manga collection they go Omg you like pokemon **** and stuff like that when I clearly have nothing to do with pokemon in my collection. Then I just tell them to piss off and search for the word anime on google :D
 
Yes, they're all fully aware I do, but they don't really care. They don't really associate it with anything bad though, except randomers who AREN'T my friends.

...and nah, I wear Naruto (and wrestling) shirts to work. If someone wants to think less of me for getting entertainment from watching cartoons and men pretending to fight, good for them.
 
More or less everyone knows i watch anime in some way. But ones i am friends with refer to it as anime, and others i just know refer to it as 'the Chinese/Japanese's shows'.

I do tend to rant on about animes. . . . .even if people aren't listening.
 
all my mates know i like it and they arent bothered but in middlesbrough know one has a clue what it is except a few people

Thats basically me, if someone asks me Ill tell them, but Im the type of person that doesnt wear his emotions on his shirt Im very neutral.
 
I don't go about shouting to everyone i am an anime fan, its more that if someone asks what i'm into, i'll tell them. Most people that know me well know i am into anime, though the people i work with don't have a clue. It doesn't really bother me who knows and what they think of me for liking anime, since its not exactly going to change the fact that i like to watch/read anime and manga.
 
Ah i don't hide it at all,i think the fact is nobody knows what it is or actually cares.I have a Luffy keyring on my bag which numerous people have said 'is cute' and a Death Note necklace which always gets the comment 'Whats the L stand for' I think that pretty much says it all.

Though if im in HMV or in a book shop,i always like talking to the other people browsing the anime or manga.Its nice :D Though i sometimes get the impression that a lot of people dont like to discuss it :?
 
Well the main reason no one wants to discuss it is embarrassment.

Cartoons are for kids
Anime=pokemon
anime=perversions

That seems to be the conventional train of thought, that is if you're an ignorant cocksucker.

Embarassment is only felt if you yourself make that connection; everyone knows anime isn't perverse on a pornographic level - that's what hentai is for. :p

No, i agree with what you're saying but there is nothing wrong with actually caring about people think about you. It will impact your life at one point, you can't walk around saying i don't give a flying monkey what anyone thinks because your shooting yourself in the foot.

If someone asks me what i like, i'll tell them, but you won't find me parading the streets saying "yay i love anime" Mainly because i'm an adult, also because i know what peoples preconceptions are and frankly i don't want to be given that label. How you can try and say someone isnt a fan or an enthusiast because of this somewhat bemuses me.
