AnimEigo Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video starts on 2nd June

Re: AnimEigo Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video starts o

Ugh. I want this, but I want their bubblegum release more. The question is, do I want bubblegum twice as much???

Thanks for the info. :)

Put my pledge in. Missed out on Bubblegum Crisis, so I'll look forward to their future ones.

Backed at $65. The exchange rate's pretty good atm and it feels better spending more on the product and less on the postage. At only $40 for the basic, can anyone really say no to this?

Best of luck with the Kickstarter Robert, what with this and the BGC Kickstarter I'm really digging AnimEigo's globally inclusive (not to mention fan inclusive) approach.

I've backed too - really glad they've offered the reassurances re. not getting hit with customs fees.

Re: AnimEigo Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video starts o

Never been big on Kickstarter, avoided it so far... until now. I've thrown my $25 in. The $15 delivery really put me off but I guess it's not that much really.

Re: AnimEigo Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video starts o

I was going to back the $25 tier but the shipping put me off. £26 is a little steep for me considering it would be a blind buy with a small amount of episodes. Definitely out of their hands that though, the actual price not including shipping is quite cheap. However I wish them the best of luck with it. Nice to see they've already met three quarters of their goal in such little time.

Backed the $50 tier.

I only did the basic BGC as didn't feel a few extra amaray's was worth the extra, but like the fact we are getting a chipboard box and artbook. Easy decision to get the collectors edition for this.

Riding Bean... hmmm... never heard of it before. Although I am happy with older anime coming to the west, so will more than likely back it (albeit may just be a standard edition for this)

Re: AnimEigo Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video starts o

I'm a more recent fan of anime so I'd be relying on what I've picked up from other fans rather than first hand knowledge of being a fan from back then. Do you think it's worth getting for people like me? Also, how much does it depend on references to anime/companies of the time (and are there any specific shows I'd need to have seen)?

I'm always tempted by this sort of thing but I'm not sure I can justify it.

I'd be a bit more interested in a BD for Riding Bean than OnV, if only because I'm not sure I have the means of playing my old NTSC VHS copy anymore.

It doesn't depend on having seen any one show as such, but I think you'd get a lot more out of it if you know roughly Gainax's history as a company, and there are certainly a lot of visual references to anime from the 70s and 80s.

I mean I watched Gunsmith Cats recently, so it only makes sense that I'll get Riding Bean, right? Yes, the answer is yes.

I'd get Riding Bean on blu-ray. It would be nice if Gunsmith Cats would be available further down the line to go with it.
