Animefreak17 And His All-Purpose General Chat Thread

Has anyone been or want to go to that place in Japan that sells manga anime games and such. You see it in loads of anime genshiken, comic party, you know that big place I can't remember the name of it but ah loads of people go to it.

I wouldn't mind going just once it seems like a paradise for fans and looks like fun

There are quite a few places in Japan that fit the description ;) assuming you mean a district rather than a shop, is it Akihabara?

It's pretty good there, yeah.

In that case (and given the shows you listed) you mean Tokyo Big Sight, specifically when it's hosting Comic Market which is held twice a year. It's for amateur doujin creators really, so although there's some anime/manga and goods on sale the overwhelming majority of things on sale are doujinshi and music/game materials.

It hosts other events when Comiket isn't running so you could turn up there and be rather disappointed if you don't go at the right time ;)

I just had to Google Tokyo Big Sight based on af's description... what a horrendous monstrosity. It looks like someone parked an oil rig in the wrong place.

You have to admit the weird, ugly design does its job if AF can identify and describe it so perfectly :D
True! And it's still better looking than the Birmingham NEC.

Anthropomorphic exhibition centres... Only in Japan, which is probably a good thing as I hate to think what the aforementioned NEC would look like.
