Tell me about it. I imported the Girls Bravo DVDs a while ago. And when they showed up my mum looked on the back and saw the American "17 up" rating and that was kinda difficult. and I had to delicatly explain that American ratings are different. :?
And If she was to ever see me watching my Elfen Lied DVDs all hell would break lose

Yeah, anything with sex or nudity could be awkward for me to explain. Fortunately I've never been caught watching anything too bad, I don't think they'd yell at me or anything it would just be embarassing.

I guess Gantz and Ninja Scroll are the only titles I REALLY wouldn't want them to see, aside from that it would just be stuff where they're unaware of the context.

Elfen Lied
Tenchi Muyo
Ghost In The Shell
Chobits
Any Yaoi

or any with sexual content.

I used to watch some safer anime but the others on my own etc XD

Meh...i can watch anything with my mum.I think she may like anime as much as me sometimes.I personally don't watch anything too extreme,so it never really is an issue anyway. But yeah,i can pop FAKE on and she'll watch it with me.

me folks know i have been watching anime for years and years. but the thing is i never watch it with them or around them, i always watch it in my room.
however the odd couple of times when i decide to watch it in the living room..my folks may walk in and just sit down with me....and as soon as some of the corny cliche scenes comes up or i sence some unsuitable family viewing scenes i just switch it off and say ''i take it your getting bored...you can watch what you want'' and i walk back to my room lol.
because it can be sooo very awkward...watching an unsuitable scene with your folks....

Its a taboo thats close to sex it seems. It can be awkward, like when my older cousin pointed out the nude Motoko on the back of Ghost in the Shell, but mum just pointed out that Im 18 and can watch what I want. Oh well, embarassing, but s*** happens.

Actually, my mum is fine with any anime I watched. She wasn't really that bothered when I watch Elfen Lied (which I'll never watch again), because I am 15 after all and she understands that. She won't let me watch Hentai though (Like I want to watch that crap, anyway)

She watched FMA with me once, though. She thought Greed's death was a bit stupid.

Just to think, our kids will grow up in this same mind set.

I was going to post this.

It will be great, Anime will be oh so popular, It shall be out of control by 2050.

And Japanese will be EVERYONE'S second language, Only to English of course.

Yeah, sound is my undoing. I only feel really uneasy about it though if its the English dub, was watching Gantz with it recently and I can't shake the feeling that all the worst lines just resonate through the house.

hmnnnn I would say yaoi =/ but I recently explained to my mum what yaoi is and if anything she seemed intrigued XD other than that she has watched quite alot of the anime I have with me and she would even read manga if I got one to her tastes rofl

She used to think it was all cartoons and stuff D< but I made sure she got rid of that mind set!

My mother just puts on the expression when i talk about it to her; this expression being the same as when my younger brother talks about video games. Y'see what this expression does; it makes her look like she is interesting and all; but. . . . . .just doesn't give a absolute crap about any of it.
