Anime UK News mascot character - can you draw one?

Okay, so I'm sick of featuring images cropped from random anime as headers for Anime UK News. We need our own character(s), in a variety of colors, expressions and poses!

This is where you come in - I'm amazed by some of the talent I see in this forum and it would be great if someone could help us in our quest to create a unique character for Anime UK News!

I'm not sure about the amount of interest in this - if you want to have a bash, reply below! Depending on the level of submissions, I could create a competition with prizes, and of course, the chosen artist(s) will have their name and website regularly linked across Anime UK News itself.

So how's about it? :)

Though digital would be better, it doesn't necessarily have to be drawn on a computer - I can easily extract the character designs in Photoshop myself.

I just drew this now in a standing pose, but if it's something that you'd think would be suitable, I'll redraw her in a different pose and stuff :d

Anything colorful and fun. I'm not going to say I definitely want a male or female character, it just has to be nice to look at! :) A variety of poses would be good, since I'll be trying to spread this through different sections of the site - and I'd like to see some colour too, since we have enough grey on the site as it is :)
 
I can draw all these a lot neater by the way but i'm using a mouse on that MSN handwriting thing to do these.
 
Here's a taster of my efforts, I'll come up with a bit more of it later.

I really like Sy's sketchy style and on the spot humour! :D
 
I'll have a go. I'll start tommorrow and get it done a.s.a.p.
I hate doing quick sketches though, so I'll try my best :p
 
I'll give it a go, i really haven't drawn much as of late so i'll try and make a decent one. Imaginative drawing isn't my strong point but doesn't stop me trying/
