so goodness knows what they'd do with the 12-year old fanservice in To Love Ru Darkness

12 year old fan service? Jesus. Is that "pushing" things? Well if it is it's in the wrong direction. I would hope Viz don't include it.
I preferred the series a lot more when Mikan Yuki simply played the role of the more responsible younger sister who would roll her eyes at her brother's ecchi accidents, but since To Love Ru Darkness started in particular, she's become a victim of those herself. The last time I checked, her character was stated to be canonically 12 (although she's advanced a grade since the manga begin, so could be 13 and thus, above the national Japanese age of consent - not that it does us any good :p). However, the majority of the cast are actually above even our age of consent; with the ones who aren't being relatively minor until To Love Ru Darkness, where they end up taking centre stage.

I think Viz Media could actually safely publish To Love Ru under the Shonen Jump Advanced label considering it was rather tame and to my memory, didn't show anything more than panties and cleavage. However, I can see why they would shy away from the far more explicit To Love Ru Darkness, which often depicts full frontal nudity.

Mikan had always been my favourite in pictures I'd seen, but my real entry to the series (other than seeing part of the first episode years ago and dropping it) was Darkness, just because it was on AoD. I was shocked when she turned up wearing a randsel, not having realised how young she was.

In an alternate universe, Kentaro Yabuki was actually allowed to do Black Cat 2 and didn't have to resort to incorporating characters into To Love Ru :p

I love that Sailor Moon was the release people wanted most. I believe we will get it...someday. Rumor has it Toei's doing their own remaster of the series. Maybe they're waiting for that. Viz's Blu ray has been criticized but would people buy it if it was DVD only.

Toei has remastered it, twice. A nice one they kept for themselves and a **** one they gave to Viz. Needless to say, certain distributors seem to be playing it safe.

I suspect it would have done a lot better if it had had a better stream. It wasn't publicised much in the UK and then everything went up super-late, which made it a bother to watch it if you didn't already know that it was worthwhile. Then there was the wait for the finale!

A shame since it was a cracking title and definitely the kind of thing that should do well in the west.

The English dub is excellent (maybe even a rare case where the dub is better than the subtitled version), so hopefully it will get a Toonami broadcast at some point and people will pick up on it that way.

agreed - I had dropped the series but stuck with it for the funimation broadcast dub
