UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Considering how disappointed I was with their previous two deluxe editions and none of the extras from the older releases carried over to this set, I don't think I'll bother with the Deluxe Edition. They take up more space than they should on the shelf anyway.

Good to know regarding the extras and that is disappointing. I won't be binning off my Blu-ray and DVD copies just yet then, lol.

In light of that, if there was no CD, I'd probably go for the steelbook, but I am a sucker for a CD soundtrack 😰

regarding the theatrical presentation of the first 2 episodes of The Ghost in the Shell, useful to know that it will be dub only I would imagine (a reverse of what I was expecting myself).

There's question around this at the moment, Amazon (who are streaming the show) has been known to send dubs to particular recording studios not known for quality output (Fist of the North Star was particularly hilarious, and that South African studio has produced a lot of poor work for the company) but given this arrangement and the companies involved on the committee, it may well be someone else there has a hand in this. I would certainly hope so, anyway, might be a good sign on that front.

No cast details have been revealed on the Japanese side, a trailer with voice over was released but I didn't recognise Akio Otsuka or Koichi Yamadera in their last trailer so I have my doubts they are sticking with the OG/SAC cast where they can. We will see though. I would therefore have my doubts about that replicated in English either. Still, might be fun to have Crispin Freeman back as Togusa, could definitely work (and would prevent some shenanigans in production)

I wonder if this means we will get a physical release of the first season and a possible second season from anime limited?

The steelbooks should be included in the collectors editions you shouldn’t have to choose it’s ridiculous

I'd be ok as a choice, but as I hate steelbooks that would just guarantee I'd never buy another CE, though I generally don't anyway so I suppose I'm complaining about nothing. 😄

This is exactly why we don't typically include Steelbooks in Collector's sets - it's a divisive topic, but whenever we've asked in surveys etc more people have wanted us to keep the Steelbook out of the Collector's set than include it.

It's also a per-title based decision, dependant upon print run size, cost and other factors.

I wish they'd better keep up on Bluesky. I know many bailed on it after a few months, but having to pop into X now feels like sticking my full arm down a blocked toilet....

We're in the process of moving to different social media management software that (from early testing) seems to actually work properly with BlueSky - once that's finalised and we're fully migrated we should be able to start posting everything there more easily.
