UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Just spoke with Andy, there's not going to be a title announcement panel this mcm because they they want to focus on getting the titles they've already announced out the door but there hoping to do something for Christmas.
Disappointing to hear. For me this year has been a lacklustre and grim when it comes to AL's releases. I have only ordered one thing (Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2) from them this year and that was on January 15th.

This year I've only purchased the Naruto and BLEACH/TYBW sets - I have made a pre-order for Perfect Blue 4K, but aside from that it's only been Naruto and Bleach for me.

I'm hoping we get release dates for the Hosoda 4K collection soon (TGWLTT, Summer Wars, Wolf Children).

Panel was a 25 minute jobby just basically asking attendees which characters and arcs they liked, along with advertising the Blu-rays and using a behind the seasons of season 2 vignette made for NYCC.

I just checked and discovered I've made...zero orders in 2025.

It also inspired me to check when my Anime Unlimited was renewing and it turns out it was set for next week, so I've cancelled it (I'll renew if they ever release any more Inuyasha or Gundam)!

There seems to be a sale on atm but no banner or specialized categories up for it, probably price matching MCM as usual. You'll need to search but there are a lot of standards down to about £12 and a few recent CEs back at EB prices including Dan Da Dan.
The Macross Plus UE is back at its early bird price of £120. I think that's the first time it's dropped below RRP since the spring sale, so I finally pulled the trigger on the thing. I can regret it at my leisure.

I signed up for Anime Unlimited too, which either brought it down to £108 or recouped two-thirds of the subscription cost, depending on how you look at it.

I guess I’ll wait that bit longer for InuYasha updates then, likewise with Shippuden. Those details could come via the next newswire or two I suppose.

All I'm waiting on are announcements for Blood+ and Blood the Last Vampire Blu-ray releases - I'm really hoping for CE box sets for both of those, or at least steelbooks. Blood+ is the very first anime series I ever watched, so I really wish for that one to have special packaging! I do own the US DVD box sets, but looking forward to getting it on Blu-ray.

I hope so too! This one has been on my 'want to have' list for so long and am so hyped for a bluray release. Halloween would be a perfect time to announce more, just saying AL:P.

Looking at AL social posts from the con and feeling like the Abe Simpson "I used to be with it" meme. I'm 40 next year and some of the stuff in these posts makes me feel it...

As for Gundam- again, with GQuuuuuuX announced to have English subs on the Japanese Blu-rays I'm partly convinced Bandai are going back to their pre rightstuf plans and this might be snookering AL. It's a honest truth that sometimes we get stuff purely because Japan cares a lot about the American market and we share a language. If Crunchyroll have killed producing bespoke Gundam releases for that, I can easily imagine tiny Brexit Britain hardly being a priority. Hell, remembering the SEED panel they did for Anime Matsuri where despite AL coaxing to mention the UK, Fukuda and the producer pointedly only wanted to acknowledge France.

Not surprised. They had their original plans with the director and had to change last minute to try and at least do something.

I forgot to say, while at mcm on Saturday I asked @Hanners about the idea of releasing the original digimon movie that discotek media released with a new dub for the original ova's they came from and he told me that is one there trying to licence, so no confirmation of a release but they are trying to get the digimon movie.

From what I can tell, the Digimon TV series has been a big seller for Discotek over in the US. I know the US is a bigger overall market and all, but it would be cool to see them pick up the regular seasons too.
