Anime Limited announce release of Outlaw Star

Am sure there'll be one that gets there - not every title is for everyone for any particular reason :). Nor am I going to rattle off everything I have at once or part of the fun :p!

Keep firing away with suggestions and we'll get a match to your interests soon enough I am sure :)! Will be sad if not ;_;...

May have asked this before too -but what would interest both of you :)? Not a guarantee I have it of now but you never know what may fall onto my plate in the future.

I'LL THROW MY WALLET AT YOU FOR A GARDEN OF SINNERS BLURAY *subtle hint*

Ahem, so what is Outlaw Star and why should I buy it? Will it be an NTSC DVD?
Also it's nice to know that license rescues are still on the table here.

I'd avoided the AL set as I'd heard the image quality was poor, so I'm quite keen for this one.
Ditto. It might be 0/2 for some, but so far it's 2/2 for me.

i third garden of sinners, i'd like bakemonogatari too but want GOS more, also please try and get
cardcaptor sakura
sailor moon
great teacher onizuka
familiar of zero
dusk maiden of amnesia
revolutionary girl utena

i'm definitely gonna purchase bebop, outlaw star is a maybe, it all depends on what else is being released at the time and if i feel like buying it, it does sound interesting though.

while i love that the company's resurrecting previously released series, i think it can do well by releasing older previously unreleased series, like utena and sailor moon, both are shows that would have a large fan base by now, especially sailor moon, although i do hear toei is kinda hard to license off. here's hoping though.

I have a US set of Outlaw Start so avoided the more recent UK AL set, it's a great show, one of the classics that ran alongside Bebop as I recall in the UK.

If it's a nice step up in quality from what I have already i'll definately consider it

Never watched this show, and after watching the trailer i'm unsure whether i'd actually like this, though depending on quality of the release (ie packaging etc) I may be tempted to pick it up.

I'm in too. Blu-ray would've been nice but Outlaw Star is inconsistently animated and probably wouldn't benefit from the upgrade as much as Bebop does.

It's not a great show but it is a fun show and I'd like to own a version that doesn't look muddy, soft, and dark. I had a look on the Mania forum for some comparison shots that I remembered being amazed at years ago, but almost all of them have been deleted. But there is one identical shot from the R1 and remastered R2 that hasn't been swallowed by the internet.

EDIT: Here's the forum post with the images. Quite a few R1 shots are still hosted but practically all of the R2 remaster shots are gone.

I really enjoyed Outlaw Star the first time around. If your into somewhat pulpy sci-fi/space opera it's pretty cool.

Im not that much into /sci-fi/space but i feel like im enjoying more and more old series than new ones so i might give this one a look.

I hope the "remaster" will be better than that screen shot on Youtube which was total dung.

The trailer we linked to is from the original video material as we're just compiling our trailer now - the video quality looks a whole lot better in reality.

Sorry Andrew but none of your titles are of interest to me so far.

Maybe the 3rd one will change that...

+1

original Sailor Moon
original Fullmetal Alchemist
Ranma 1/2
Inuyasha + Final Act

Thanks a lot Andrew.

mvm already have x, kaze already have magi, and i think manga are in negotiations for steins gate, other than that the rest are all viable options, although i wonder how hard it would be to get fate zero (around $700 for whole series now) and sword at online (aniplex again and they haven't even released it yet), that being said i agree with the sailor moon assessment, hopefully with the new series coming out the original can finally be licensed.

You can edit one of them and just put a space ( ) in it or something short so it doesnt show two bigs posts one after another, until someone deletes it.

Awright!

Now, I may already own Outlaw Star on DVD, but that doesn't mean I find this news any less exciting.

I've resolved to double dip on Bebop purely to support Anime Limited. My finances, it's safe to say, won't allow me to do that for Outlaw Star. But! it's GREAT that there's some attention being paid to getting classic shows out there for us.

Now, dare I ask about the possibility of some Gundam? :p

That's perfectly fine! The edge of rescuing licenses or going for older ones is that there is always an established audience with copies already (in some cases just the Japanese version mind you). Double dipping as a sign of support is as always appreciated though :).

I've got a few projects I am super keen on getting but require a lot of time and effort developing though and it's no secret that one of them is Gundam. That said they require a lot of discussion because honestly one of the big key successes to me surrounding Gundam is the fact that the model kits are so addictive too.

Nothing to discuss on it yet though I am afraid!

I was actually just thinking the other day "It sure would be nice to own some of the older Gundam series'". I only own SEED, SEED DESTINY and 00 at the moment.

Then there's also the 00 movie, which although I own Bandai's region free BD, wasn't released here. Might be cool to get that out here for people who didn't import.
