I think I've probably asked this before, but are there any active clubs or societies in Birmingham that I could attend? (but not Uni ones, as that would be a bit weird)

I hope you actually can. the uni I was at made it stupidly hard to start new ones.

Check out http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=115739699332 - That's the Anime In the North-West group which promotes clubs and meets across the North-West. If you go to the Info tab, there are links to the clubs they know of, and I'm sure most aren't Uni linked.

Tempting, but one would have to deal with UCL's security protocols.
By London standards, they're quite strict: several buildings actually require you to present ID to security prior to entering. Any Tom, Richard or Harry can simply stroll into other institutions.
