A question about Shakugan no Shana

Invisible Crane

Straw Hat Pirate
Shakugan no Shana is one of those anime shows that I kinda want to get but never got around to it, now I've noticed that United Publications has it on Special but one thing I need to know is I've heard there are follow up seasons to it and if so have not been licensed...is this the case because if so it might not get it then because I've already been through one long show that got dropped (Sgt Frog), I don't want to go through another

I believe Funimation announced the licenses for all the subsequent Shana anime at AX this year.

Which, knowing Funi, means they should come out some time in 2014-ish.

Ah I see so I don't have to worry about not missing out since I'm assuming the first series has a cliffhanger conclusion

In my early days of being into the anime medium, there were a couple of shows that I loved so much they became number 1 and 2 respectfully. Shakugan No Shana was one of them and I really loved it that time. That was... 3 - 4 years ago-ish?

Now when I tried to rewatch it, I just... couldn't. Unrelated, but I tried doing the same with Bleach, even buying the boxset to an extent. Still couldn't get into ti, so I might as well try pawn them off to someone who wants them.

Anyway, back to Shana. But uh, I really liked the first two episodes. They were the actual highlights of the series. The first episode shown a really interesting premises of the other world, whilst the second is about a girl in the class who going to disapear because she died in that other world [basically, when they die in the other world, they create a flame to keep them alive to reduce the shock and stability issues]. It created a really interesting premise and that Yuji just couldn't believe what he's been seeing.

...then the romance kicked in and everything went to ****. I would tolerate it if Shana was the only love interest, but nope, they had to bring in a ******* love triangle. And that took up the majority of screen time if it isn't 'demon slaying' or 'incest scenes' [though I approve of the incest... wait, I'm not attracted to my sister].

The second season was much worse, as it tread the events of the first one and thrown in a third woman to make things worse.

So yeah. Shana I used to love, but now I absolutely hate it. It's more high school romance cliches than demon-slaying 'LETS EXPLAIN ABOUT THE OTHER WORLD".

It's true, after much begging from the fans, FUNimation announced that they licensed Shakugan no Shana Season 2 and Shakugan no Shana the Movie and the Shakugan no Shana S OVA series, to be released in 2011. Since then, a third and final season has been announced, but we haven't even seen any promotional material yet.

I've watched both seasons, and I can definitely see the appeal of the first season. It could actually be watched on it's own; my only gripe is that it combined the stories of the first 2 light novels into one story arc. I definitely agree with Ammish in that they should have focused more on the Crimson World and Torches and things like that; the only part of the love-triangle that made it so annoying at times though is, Shana has the body of a 12-year old, yet Yuji is in High School...a bit creepy. Kazumi, while physically pleasing, is the typical shy girl...

The second season...the first half of it is pretty much romantic-comedy garbage. It picks up in the second half though.

The movie is apparently just a re-adaptation of the first novel, which as I said earlier, the anime mashed up with the second novel's plot. (Yet why was Margery Daw on the movie poster? Can someone who has seen the movie please explain that to me?)

I'd say I prefer the Light Novels, but Viz Media only published the first two.
