The Boss
The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment has <a target="_blank" href="http://www.asosbrigade.com/">posted a new video on its ASOS Brigade website</a>, the official "unofficial" site for the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise. In the "Episode 0.8888" video, which is also <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRfywEX2LDQ">posted</a> on Bandai Entertainment's Youtube channel and in this article below, the producer of the English version of <b>The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya</b> said that "the contract has been signed" and added that he's going to "shoot a series of videos to promote the second season DVDs."
When voice actress Cristina Vee asked if she can have a part in the English voice cast for the second season, the producer replied, "we'll see about that, you'll have to audition first." Vee also sang an English version of "Super Driver", the opening theme song to the second season of <b>The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya</b>, in the video.
However, when fellow ASOS Brigade member Karrie Shirou asked when the DVDs are to be released, the video feed encountered "technical difficulties" during the producer's answer.
On Christmas day, the ASOS Brigade updated its website with a new video, and the main page's HTML source included an almost endless string of Japanese eights.

I'm just glad that Bandai are still alive. They hadn't licensed anything for a while and I'd began to worry. Not sure that Endless Eight will be their salvation, though.

If the price is right, I'll bite.

If it's released straight to boxset, I'll buy it. But I won't be able to take a four volume release. Endless Eight kills that idea straight off.

I hope they can get the web shorts, Haruhi-chan and Nyoron Churuya-san

Christiana doing more Anime covers XD

Can you image the dub cast though through endless eight, I can image Wendee or the likes to say "having we read this script twice already?"

I was trying to find a decent part for Mia Bradley in all that, and just wasted my time cause of this time paradox they wanted to wean out

I try not to imagine English dub casts under any circumstances, especially for a show as unique and brilliant as Haruhi.

/runs

/is very sorry for finally snapping and saying something about dubs

It's funny you say that, the dub for Haruhi is considered good even by reasonable sub fans ;)

That's mixed pretty badly. It's hard to even hear what she's singing because the music drowns her out. The lyrics are fine, but I don't care for her singing.

My sort of sub fan wouldn't even know what the dub sounded like. :p

edit: NO, NO, BAD ILMAESTRO! I know I shouldn't really be making sub vs dub comments, even if it is in jest. ^^;

Well I was revering to how they would feel repeating the same lines over half a dozen times. It's defiantly something to bring up to Wendee or Crisp when at a con

Endless Eight is eight episodes of similar events being repeated. The key things remain the same, but what is said often changes, as does the way it's said.

There's no reason to do anything special when recording. Just record the eight episodes as... eight episodes.

I'm going to wait for the disc count before I commit to this, I need to see how best to avoid the worst assault on the Medium of animation ever committed to celluloid before I'm ready with my reddies.

And only the weak of mind would buy those episodes willingly.

I'm going to buy them willingly, butI haven't seen them yet. Should I give them a go before-hand?

I hear a couple people who thinks those are genious, but i hear a lot of people saying those are the worse rubbish ever made. Can't really decide on it just yet.

They are well made episodes. They went all out with the production values, and you can hear that no corners were cut with the Japanese dub recording. The English dub will have to be equally high quality.

The problem is watching the same events over and over again, even with different perspectives, different directorial styles, different moods, different nuances...

I thought the first three times were great, but my interest waned thereafter (except for the swimsuit scenes :p ), and by the time of the eighth iteration I was just glad it was over. I don't think it was a crime against animation, but I do think it was a waste of airtime, and that the story could have been told with greater effciency.

I think it's down to personaly mileage. You know the movie Groundhog Day? Can you watch it regularly, once a year, every year, and get the same enjoyment out of it. Then you'll probably love Endless Eight. Me, I liked Groundhog Day the first five times I watched it, between 1993 and 2000, but now I have no desire to ever watch it again. Same thing with Endless Eight. It was a great, one-time TV event, but I don;t see much rewatch value in it.

I've seen Groundhog day a considerable amount of times, I take I'll buy the DVD's and decide if I curse it or love after I've actually seen them. No point right now, and it wouldn't be the first time I've bought some series without having any idea what it was all about anyway.

I have to disagree with the Endless Eight / Groundhog Day analogy. If every repeated day in Groundhog Day had been the same except for Bill Murray's wardrobe and the camera angles it was filmed from, perhaps then (and only then) would it be fair.

agreed, E8 was nowhere near as good as Groundhog Day

that said, other than E8, I liked Season 2 of Haruhi
